That was the early tweet yesterday morning from Verron Haynes, who is currently working with the freshman football players and is clearly pretty excited about it. He also wants you to know that pain is your friend because "it let's u kno ur NOT dead yet." In short, Verron Haynes' twitter account is motivational, informative, and leads me to believe that our incoming freshmen may be many things, but one thing they will not be is led through morning workouts by a guy who isn't obscenely enthusiastic at 6:00 a.m. That's a good thing.
Verron may have run into a little trouble after leaving Athens, but he will always occupy a special place in my heart. In addition to being instrumental to one of the greatest plays in Bulldog history, he also posted 2 of the top 3 rushing efforts of the Mark Richt era, in back to back weeks during the 2001 seasons: 192 yards against Ole Miss followed by 207 yards against Georgia Tech to break a 3 game losing streak to the Jackets.
So tomorrow morning, while you're rolling over to hit the snooze for the third time, know that Verron Haynes will have already spent an hour yelling at a gaggle of teenagers who are in the process of learning that even Dream Teamers get to talk to Uncle Ralph before taking the field in the Georgia Dome 80 days hence. I can't wait.
Go 'Dawgs!!!
