Georgia Bulldogs Saturday "Gone Fishin'" (But Not Really) All-Sports Open Comment Thread
I apologize for my having doubtless given the impression of idleness; I assure you, I have been busy, which is why I have failed to comment adequately upon the Diamond Dogs’ loss to Vanderbilt, the Georgia softball team’s run-rule victory over Georgia State in the Athens Regional, Chelsey Gullickson’s stirring rally to lead the Bulldog women’s tennis team past Cal in the NCAA Tournament, or a Saturday slate of sporting events that includes the baseball rubber game with the Commodores, NCAA men’s and women’s golf action, the softball team’s 9-2 win over UAB earlier today, and a huge men’s tennis rematch with Tennessee in Palo Alto, but, for reasons I promise to make plain as soon as I am able, I will have to play catch-up concerning sporting events in Bulldog Nation this weekend. I apologize for the inconvenience, which I hope you won’t take as if it were the end of the world.

Your patience is appreciated, and you are encouraged to carry on the conversation in my absence in the comments below.

I love the pic of Thomas...
… but for goodness sakes, man, we gotta do something about that blue and orange vest. Let me see if I can sharpen my photoshopping skills.
My father apologized for getting him a blue and orange one, . . .
. . . but the only other one they had for sale was pink.

It's amateurish...
… but it’s red and black (and silver).

I think they are fantastic colors. I don’t think he should change a thing.

Watch it. . . .
That is my kid you’re talking about, after all!

I understand.
However, just as you wouldn’t want me attempting to turn your kids into Georgia fans, I am not appreciative of the reverse.

Well, I live in Chattanooga. My lady is a big Vols fan. So things could be interesting.

Oh, and Georgia got mega-housed by Vanderbilt...
… ending the season at 28-28. Georgia now has to win 3 games in the SEC tournament to make the NCAA tournament, for the following reasons:
1) An at-large team must have an above-.500 record to be invited to the NCAA tournament.
2) The SEC tournament is a double-elimination tournament
Georgia’s season is now, however, effectively over, for the following reasons:
1) Georgia always sucks in the SEC Tournament.
On the “silver lining” side, David Perno probably did enough to save his job for another year, and Georgia has a lot of talent returning next year, so we could be even better then. There’s always next year!
On a More Positive Note UGA 4, Tennessee 3 in men's NCAA tourney...Dogs advance to national semi-finals
Nice finish for Manny’s boys…payback is a b**** is it not Vols?

Sweet!
I have to tell you, I was disproportionately emotionally invested in that outcome!

The whole thing was available for viewing online.
I watched it off and on, including the entire final and deciding set between UGA’s Wil Spencer and [whoever the Vol was — not going to trouble to look up his name right now]. It was pretty exciting, ending 7-5. Georgia had a lot of very vocal fans in the crowd, which is always nice to hear.
Okay.
I realize I’m chronologically challenged versus the general commentariat, but a PFD to go fishin’ fin a pond with your dad standing right there?
Jeez! Where’s Norman Rockwell when you need him?
(my grandfather let me shoot at bedding bass with an Army .45 when I was 8-9 years old)
If it helps (and it may not), . . .
. . . I wasn’t there; this picture was shot when he was spending a few days visiting his grandparents.

Well thank God they have a pond for him to wet a line in.
Some things should never change.Treating him like prince, giving him more home-made pie than he can eat, and correcting all the faults instilled in him by his parents.

That's exactly what happens when he spends a few days with my folks.
For what it’s worth, he didn’t have a life jacket on when he caught his first one:

Also, he took part in the cleaning, cooking, and, of course, eating of his catch, as well:
