PrintAlthough I’m looking forward to September 3 as much as the next fellow, the fact is that you don’t have to wait ‘til football season to enjoy a full Saturday of watching the Georgia Bulldogs in action. Here is what is on the docket for the Red and Black today:
- SEC Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the Spec Towns Track, beginning at noon
- NCAA Women’s Tennis Tournament first round against Marist at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex, beginning at noon
- NCAA Men’s Tennis Tournament second round against Auburn at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex, beginning at 3:00
- Diamond Dogs doing battle with Kentucky in Lexington, beginning at 4:30
- SEC Softball Tournament championship game against Tennessee in Oxford, beginning at 8:00

Well, it's been a banner day for the city of Manchester thus far.
This morning, Manchester United clinched the Premier League title, followed immediately by Manchester City winning the FA Cup.

Georgia defeats Marist, 4-0, in women's tennis.
Earlier in the day, Alabama beat Utah, 4-0, in women’s tennis, setting up a second round showdown between the two sets of SEC lady netters in Athens at 2:00 tomorrow.

Georgia has lost three straight games to baseball teams it ought to have beaten handily. This collapse is embarrassing; a chance at an NCAA Regional appearance is virtually gone, and a trip to Hoover is no longer a sure thing.

I don’t remember what the Bulldogs were wearing in the LSU game, but they were wearing all black when they beat top-seeded Alabama yesterday.

She pitches well, and she has a great attitude. She takes her job seriously, but she always seems to be enjoying herself.

Absolutely gave them this game.
It’s one thing to lose to a better team, but to give them two unearned runs that made the difference between a 5-4 win and a 6-5 loss is infuriating.
Fortunately, this isn’t college football, so the conference championship is more or less meaningless, as both teams will have an equal shot at the national title, as will the Florida team that was bounced in the first round and the Alabama team Georgia upset. Yay playoff incongruity!

It's becoming seriously unfair that the second I tune into any UGA sport it goes sour
But, I have good news, I am now supposed to deploy through the early fall. The last two SEC championships – I watched in a tent. So, we have a great shot at a 4-0 start.
