You know, I should really be working on updating the DawgSports Lexicon... and I promise, I'll get right on that as soon as I can. (Picks up Kindle, keeps reading Soccernomics)
For those of you in the DawgSports community that are located in the portions of Georgia and Alabama that are affected by the very nasty storm now rolling through, y'all stay safe. And since it looks like I might get off easy with just some lightning and rain, I'll implore the rest of you to join me in thinking of those who are hearing tornado warning sirens and hiding in the central portions of their homes and saying a prayer for their safety.
The show goes on (sort of) in the sports world, however, so we do have the following news stories to report on, as well:
- This afternoon features a game where a team named the Bulldogs are playing the Florida Gators for the right to the Final Four. If you, as a Georgia fan, can't root against the Florida Gators on today, of all days, then I don't know if you understand what being a Dawg really means*. In fact, the game tipped off while I was writing this post, so if anyone wants to use this as a live in-game thread for this and other basketball games today, be my guest!
- The baseball game scheduled for today between Georgia and LSU has been postponed, and rescheduled for tomorrow. In a move that seems designed as an effort to channel their female softball-playing peers, both baseball games on Sunday will be limited to seven innings. (Yes, I know this is actually due to an obscure SEC rule governing the end-time of Sunday conference games, but work with me, here.)
* - To those of you rooting for Florida for the "SEC supremacy" thing, I did not just question your fandom. If you thought I did, you're obviously wrong and are not a true fan.
I hope everyone has a great Saturday!
Go Dawgs... and
Go Butler!
