Georgia, one of the "next four teams" in our Friday Bracketology projection (meaning they didn't need to worry about traveling to the Opening Round in Dayton), is in serious trouble of not making the NCAA Tournament now. The Bulldogs had a 14-point lead on Alabama with seven minutes to go in their SEC Tournament quarterfinal in Atlanta, but fell to the Crimson Tide in overtime, 65-59. . . .
With that result, Georgia is out and Alabama is in, right?
Not so fast. Georgia still has a profile that's worthy of some consideration, while Alabama's is still lacking.

The only reason I think we have a shot?
I root for UGA. My bias clouds the obvious: we lost twice in 8 days to Alabama to end the season, including a horrendous choke-job yesterday. Since I think that UGA and Bama aren’t both in, Bama should get the nod.
Sure, we have the better resume, but when it mattered, we couldn’t get it done.
I am bi-winning. I win not only here but also there.

I think that tourney loss to Alabama may be close to bad loss.
In the end, 21-11 is a record I would have hoped for this year and would have expected would get us in. But we all mentioned that 10 conference wins would get us locked in and we didn’t do that; perhaps needing to at least split with another bubble team would have done it, too.
in the end I can’t be too upset. We’ll have a great chance to go far in the NIT and then we can hope we get at least Leslie back next year and a chance to have a better record for no other reason than increased depth, which I do feel was this team’s issue in games like yesterday’s.
There’s no real down side here. Mark Fox is putting it together and the larger successes will come soon.
