Georgia Bulldogs' 2011 Recruiting Class Capped Off by Addition of John Jenkins

The Georgia Bulldogs’ 2011 signing class was finalized on Saturday with the addition of perhaps the biggest---literally and figuratively---recruit in this group of signees, the mammoth defensive tackle who will anchor Todd Grantham’s 3-4 defense and cement his already-burgeoning legend as "Big Bad John." Here, for the record, is the final rundown of the Red and Black’s recruiting haul:

Player Position Home town Height Weight
David Andrews C Norcross 6’2" 276
Sterling Bailey DE Gainesville 6’4" 230
Devin Bowman CB Ridgeland 6’0" 175
Chris Conley WR Dallas 6’2" 185
Isaiah Crowell RB Columbus 6’0" 210
Watts Dantzler OT Dalton 6’7" 310
Zach DeBell OT Tarpon Springs, Fla. 6’7" 265
Ray Drew DE Thomasville 6’5" 248
Quintavius Harrow LB Columbus 5’11" 190
Amarlo Herrera MLB College Park 6’2" 215
John Jenkins DT JUCO (Miss.) 6’4" 340
Christian LeMay QB Matthews, N.C. 6’2" 188
Hunter Long G Memphis, Tenn. 6’4" 290
Nick Marshall CB Rochelle 6’2" 186
Chris Mayes DT Griffin 6’5" 292
Malcolm Mitchell DB-WR Valdosta 6’1" 190
Corey Moore S Griffin 6’1" 185
Jay Rome TE Valdosta 6’6" 240
Chris Sanders S Tucker 6’0" 173
Justin Scott-Wesley WR Camilla 5’11" 202
Sanford Seay WR Leesburg 6’2" 198
Damian Swann DB-ATH Atlanta 6’0" 175
Nathan Theus LS Jacksonville, Fla. 6’3" 252
Kent Turene ILB Lauderdale Lakes, Fla. 6’3" 230
Xzavier Ward OL Moultrie 6’7" 255
Ramik Wilson LB Tampa, Fla. 6’3" 218

When the sun rose last Wednesday morning, Georgia had 23 verbal commitments and was in the running for five more uncommitted prep prospects. The Bulldogs signed all 23 verbal commitments without so much as a single defection, and the Red and Black landed three of the five who had yet to declare their intentions. Given the ways in which this group has quality, has quantity, and fills needs, it’s hard to view the 2011 signing class as anything other than a grand slam.

Welcome to Bulldog Nation, gentlemen. Here’s hoping you’re as highly hyped upon your departure from the Classic City as you are upon your arrival in Athens!
