Happy Birthday #auburn Feb 1, 1856 East Alabama Male College was chartered. 155 years strong
— Today is the anniversary of the day what is now Auburn University was chartered.
Just five days ago, the University of Georgia celebrated the 226th anniversary of its chartering, so a mere 155 years makes Auburn a newcomer to higher education in my book. (Georgia celebrated its 155th anniversary in 1940.)
Still, today is the birthday of our oldest rival, so we should commemorate it in the spirit of the occasion by saying, "I hate the East Alabama Male College."
