On Wednesday night, Andy Landers’s Lady Bulldogs beat the South Carolina State Bulldogs like they stole something. Georgia carded an 85-48 victory in Stegeman Coliseum. That’s right, 85-48. There’s no way to make that score look close unless you’re dyslexic.
The visiting Bulldogs turned the ball over twice as often as the Red and Black (30-15), leading directly to 34 Georgia points. The Classic City Canines also scored 34 points in the paint (to S.C. State’s 18) and led their guests in rebounds (35-23).
Though the overmatched visitors shot respectably well, percentage-wise, Georgia simply launched more shots than the opposition did, from the field (61-40), from way downtown (19-9), and from the charity stripe (19-12). Among the principal architects of the old-fashioned fanny-thrashing were Erika Ford (10 points, 4 steals, 3 rebounds, 2 assists) and Jasmine James (17 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals, 2 assists).
With the win, Georgia improves to 8-1 all-time against S.C. State, including a 5-0 ledger against the ersatz Bulldogs within the confines of the Classic City.
