Continuing the thoughts echoed by RedCrake here......
I'm not going to rehash evidence of what happened, or what might of happened, or what someone is implying happened via YouTube video renderings. For the sake of this argument, lets take the worst route and assume Grantham said some very over the top profanity and was about to go physically ape on Franklin. I find this absolutely fine if this is one isolated event.
For three years I've had to hear about how Mark Richt is soft, he wants to go work on the mission field, his wife fills the Gatorade cups, he's not built Ford tough, he shows no emotion, he looks lost on the field, etc etc etc. I've had to endure mockery pertaining to how Georgia's soft, they've lost the edge, the look timid and so on from all of my SEC buddies. I know Richt is not an over the top outspoken emotionalist like Saban, Muschamp, Dooley, Chizik, etc. Therefore, he went out and hired one. You (the opposition) have been prodding at Georgia to show their spine, and so one of the men they hired to do so is now being chastised for it? Fine, if you want to say its a lack of discipline or he's not a good face for the program go ahead. I'm perfectly fine with him. I prefer a lunatic who sticks up for his players as my defensive coordinator. It's not like he was taunting Franklin, he was protecting one of his own. You know what I wish we had a YouTube of.... the UGA locker room after that game. If you don't think that those players were going ballistic in support of Grantham, or came out to practice Monday with a renewed sense of respect for him, I think you are wrong. A coach that gets after it gets the respect of his team and is one who guys like to play for. Remember this guy?
As Sean Bailey said "I'd love to play for Todd Grantham, that's a pappa bear protecting his cubs."
The funny thing is that this will pass very shortly. Plenty of famous coaches have their moments. Saban just dropped an S-Bomb yesterday in front of the press. Mike Gundy's rant is on the back burner of our memories. Les Miles ate grass. Will Muschamp is soley famous for dropping a "boom-motherf-er" on YouTube. I for one am glad there's some backbone from Grantham. It's what the staff needs, and can only draw Georgia closer. Sure we don't want to have a negative perception from outsiders, but if this is what we get noticed for in the negative department.... a coach showing tenascity, I'll take it all day long over AD DUIs, drug charges, tattoo schemes, paid for family apartments, pay-for-play schemes, strip club incidents, ponzi scheme funded recruiting, and the next 20 things that come to mind.
