Why are so many

jealous of SEC schools?

Get used to it A&M. It’s a blessing and a curse.

Wow!

I always assumed it was a bluff to keep Texas A&M in the Big 12. I thought the public relations hit from this obvious hypocrisy—-Texas had no problem playing Oklahoma as a non-conference opponent for all the years the Longhorns were in the SWC and the Sooners were in the Big Eight—-would be more than they were willing to absorb strictly out of spite.

This is truly, totally, embarrassingly, childishly weak. I certainly hope Texas fans are conscientious enough to be ashamed of this gutless punk move by their athletic administration. I can’t imagine that anyone who doesn’t bleed burnt orange thinks the Longhorns have looked like anything but greedy crybabies in this whole escapade.

Apparently, . . .

. . . I overestimated our Longhorn friends.

I am flabbergasted. This is genuinely petty and childish. The idea that any Texas fan would defend this is baffling to me. I am embarrassed for them, truly. For all the Longhorns’ protestations of superiority, this bush league move makes Texas look like the one with the “little brother” complex.

I completely agree with you.

This post is quite pathetic.

A&M was the one who left the conference, destabilizing it to the point where it barely survived once again. If the Aggies so desperately wanted to continue the rivalry with Texas, why leave the conference?

A&M left for the same reason Nebraska did. Texas doesn’t work and play well with others. All Texas A&M wanted was equal revenue sharing. All the Big 12 wanted was to be treated equally and fairly and not be the “Big Texas with the rest of you” conference.

GaTech left the SEC and we didnt stop playing them, we just started beating them, a lot. Winning is the best revenge. ND and Texas – always thinking the world revolves around them.

Precisely.

Georgia Tech also left suddenly, so much so that other SEC schools scheduled to play the Yellow Jackets had to count non-conference games toward their league totals. Breaking off relations—-which had occurred before between the two rivals—-might have been defended upon that basis, yet we didn’t do it.

Texas A&M, however, made no secret of its long-term intentions, sent the Big 12 a letter asking formally how the Aggies could go about leaving the conference, and received the unanimous written permission of the league and its member institutions to explore the avenue of departing with nearly a full year’s notice. Texas A&M couldn’t have handled this more professionally, yet the Longhorns are pitching a hissy fit, ending a rivalry because the Aggies had the nerve to show some gumption.

This is an absolutely petty gesture, and I hope any Texas fan who defends this bush league move knows he’s lying to himself. If they really believe this is warranted, they’re delusional, and every bad thing the Texas A&M fans have been telling us about the Longhorns is completely true.

I used to think that there was no possible way...

… that an entire fan base could execute a uniform en masse display of ignorance and delusion.

Then the Lane Kiffin thing happened at Tennessee.

(Maybe it’s a thing with schools that can be abbreviated “U.T.”)

"If the Aggies so desperately wanted to continue the rivalry with Texas, why leave the conference?"

Because of how you unequally divide conference revenues to keep the Longhorns fat and happy. We give them a better deal than you’re willing to allow, and they aren’t wanting to be under your thumb.

That sums it up. Any more stupid questions Longhorns?
