Seriously. And they're very, very good tickets.
My friend and colleague, Ann Bishop, lost her son, Miller Conn, two years ago. She is, in her words, "trying desperately to help something good come out of the horror." She has established a scholarship fund in Miller's memory with Kids' Chance of Georgia.
The mission of Kids’ Chance of Georgia, Inc. is to provide educational scholarships to the children of Georgia workers who have been seriously, catastrophically or fatally injured in work-related accidents.
You can read more about this organization at its web site, link above.
Ann is donating two Falcons tickets to a raffle to help fund Miller's scholarship. A raffle ticket costs $40.00, which is just over 10% of the face value of the two tickets. If you want to buy a ticket, please email Ann at email@example.com. Please include your name and reference Falcons Tickets, Kids' Chance in the subject. She will email your raffle number to you. Your raffle number will not be entered for the drawing until the $40.00 for each ticket purchased is received by the Kids' Chance office. You can pay with a credit card online at the Kids' Chance of Georgia website by using the following link and selecting Miller Conn Memorial Fund from the drop-down "Donation Category" list: https://kidschance.ejoinme.org/MyPages/DonationPage/tabid/64582/Default.aspx. Obviously, you're going to want to leave the "anonymous" box unchecked.
If you prefer to send a check, it should be made out to Kids' Chance of Georgia/Miller Conn Fund and can be mailed directly to the Kids' Chance office: Kids' Chance of Georgia, Inc., 2024 Powers Ferry Road, Suite 225, Atlanta, GA 30339.
The game is 15 January 2011 at 8:00 p.m. The drawing will be held Thursday, 13 January, and the winner's name will be emailed no later than 6:00 p.m., 13 January. Entering is a two-step process: (1) email Ann and get a raffle number; (2) give $40.00 (per raffle number) to Kids' Chance. The winner can get the tickets at our office in Marietta, or Ann can arrange to leave them at Will Call to be picked up on the evening of the game.
These are Ann's personal game tickets (and they are very, very good tickets). She is handling this drawing herself. It is not, perhaps, as fancy as a lot of the online contests to which we've become accustomed, but I personally can vouch for the integrity, sincerity, and worthiness of the raffle, Kids' Chance of Georgia, Inc., and Ann Bishop. I realize that my "personal" voucher may be a little strange in light of this medium, but there it is.
