PrintCollege football season concludes tonight, which would be reason enough to post an open comment thread, even were it not for these two facts: for the fifth year in a row, and the sixth time in the last eight seasons, an SEC team is appearing in the national title tilt designated by the BCS; and that league representative happens to be the Georgia Bulldogs' oldest foe, the Auburn Tigers.

With the SEC 4-5 so far this bowl season, I have to root in favor of the barn. They’ll lose it all anyway once the allegations hit the fan—is that even a mixed metaphor?—so we may as well take the SEC pride for now.
I aint rooting for those lying cheating SOBs. I havent forgotten how they acted in our game.

119 years of uninterrupted cheating.
I think this is my favorite line ever from Kyle from back in 2006. Anyway, I can’t pull for Auburn tonight. If they win it doesn’t help our cause. Plus,the fact that this season is likely to be one that ends up in probation is a black eye for the SEC.
In order to lessen the damage I hope Oregon wins, but I’m not confident they’ll be able to stop Auburn’s highest paid player.

Normally
I would pull for the SEC team. I even rooted fro UF when they played in the National Championship, I always pull for Bama in the bowl games, I even pulled for Tennessee when T Martin led them there after Peyton. Tonight, I just can’t seem to bring myself to do that. I guess you could say I’m letting my SEC allegiances roll off me like water on a duck’s back.

They might have up on the mountain tops up in Rabun county and such. Down here between Cleveland and Cornelia, we didn’t get that much. There’s still a little something falling out there. Earlier it was sleet, then there was a little freezing rain. Saw a few more snowflakes after that. DOT plowed the highway in front of my house about 2 hours ago but they didnt’ get both traffic lanes, basically got the middle where everybody was driving all day. If I could post pics on here from my computer, I would show you. I’ve tried all day.

Review of 3D broadcast
…this is incredible. On a plasma, at least. It’s like being there, but with much better camera angles.
Maybe it's just me...
… but I’ve found that I like just the regular HD better. I’m not all that crazy about football in 3D. Gives me a headache.

My wife gets headaches too. I wonder if it’s something that goes away as the brain gets used to seeing 3D on a living room screen. What I can say is that it’s significantly more immersive (better than Avatar, if you saw that), and about 1 in 15 plays I see things I’ve never seen before because I’ve never seen those plays with depth at those angles.
One annoyance is that they apparently haven’t worked out how to place the yellow line. I’m having a devil of a time figuring out when a player gets a first down.
I do like movies that are made for 3D...
… like the Avatar and Ice Age 3D movies that came with my Blu-Ray player. For some reason, though… the live sports events just don’t seem to have the same pop.
(Well, to make it worth the headache, at least.)

…I’m surprised. But of course, I don’t get the headaches, and headaches do suck.
Also, I would note that Ice Age wasn’t made for 3D, CG movies are just easy to convert 3D. You just move the virtual camera 2 inches to the right and press “render” :)

What's weird is that, now, Oregon has an incentive to go for two.
The Ducks are down 16-11. If they score a touchdown, it’s 17-16, and they’re up by one. Kicking the extra point does no good; it makes more sense for them to go for two. If they make it, they’re up by a field goal. If they don’t, they’re still in the lead.

one of the things that really bothered me during the Auburn game was the passive stance our coaches took after Fairley’s 3rd or 4th hit on Murray. I think Richt would have been totally warranted getting in someone’s face, get ejected, whatever. Opportunity missed.

Guy Sharpe’s Ghost, it looks like freezing drizzle until 1 AM and then a rare event, freezing fog overnight until 9. The forecast high is upper 30’s tomorrow, so this might alleviate the icing…but the roads will be damn tricky in the morning.

the cheating Auburn Tigers win a National Championship. Remember how we all made fun of the hiring of Auburn’s coach. Cheating aside, they did it. I wonder if we’ll ever get close?

Time to get ready for National Signing Day...
and spring practice in Athens…get that renewed feeling and a clean slate for a new season.
Can’t wait to see how the Georgia Men’s Bball team does this year.
The bad guys won tonight…but at the end of the day, I’d rather be a Georgia Bulldog (and sometimes Oregon Duck), Period.
