Didja catch Jesse Palmer's comment?

Although, as commented elsewhere on this site, I spent more time last night watching "Once Upon a TIme in the West" rather than tolerating the love fest for "Ellis Johnson's defense" and "The Ole Ball Coach's Offense", I did manage to watch enough to hear Jesse Palmer (I think it was he) say something like, "We have to remember that Southern Miss's defense is not Alabama or Florida OR EVEN GEORGIA."  Although I realize that Jesse is a Gator whose main claim to fame came as "The Bachelor" one year, I believe his snide comment demonstrates the level to which respect for Georgia has deteriorated.  Let's hope Grantham can turn this around.

I don't know how I could have missed it...

I must have been distracted by all his other brilliant commentary.

"Although I realize that Jesse is a Gator whose main claim to fame came as "The Bachelor" one year . . ."

now that’s not entirely true. He’s really famous for being the only batchelor too paste-eating dumb to keep the ladies’ names straight, thereby sending home the wrong bonnie lass before embarrassingly bringing her back and sending the other gal home. That may also make him a jerk, by the way. This isn’t the dating column, so I’m not going to go down that rabbit trail.

And his momma dressed him funny last night. Again.

I like the look on Chris Fowler's face.

It says “Where am I going, and why am I in a handbasket with these two schmucks?”

I bet it was a practical joke by the wardrobe consultants.

Perhaps Jesse forgot one of their names… or was EVEN generally agreed to be a huge tool.

There was this awesome exchange between Jesse and Craig last night as well

JP – “They have Georgia at home next week.”
CJ – “That’s a win.”

I hope Coach Grantham’s got this on all the weight machines today. Sorry, but color me unimpressed to see an SEC team dominating an inferior opponent.

Don't forget

that comment was out of CJ’s mouth before the word Georgia was completed in the preceeding phrase.

I don’t put much creedence in CJ’s comments, I could make as much sense as he does in color commentary and I only played one year of pee wee football.

Yeah, I caught that comment.

I commented on it on Twitter here.

My bad, kleph; I should have given credit where credit is due, . . .

. . . which is to say, to you. Much obliged.

What I should have said was that the network encourages Twitter use to promote our stories, and kleph graciously set up my account for me, which I have tried to use from time to time (e.g., during Thursday night’s game or during the “#unmadeprequels” evening).

On the Irish...

My people are clean and industrious folk and I resent your implication that we are some sort of drunken rabble rousers.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a half bottle of Jameson’s that isn’t going to drink itself.

To be clear, what I'm saying is....

They’re respect for Georgia hasn’t deteriorated, it was nonexistent to begin with.

Well, specifically

Viewed in context, the comment demonstrates the level to which respect for Georgia’s defense has deteriorated. Considering the comments that have been made by our very own, hither and yon, over the last couple of years, it’s pretty clear that our respect for our own defense has deteriorated, n’est-ce pas?

by NCT on Sep 3, 2010 5:08 PM EDT reply actions

It's true that our respect for our own defense has deteriorated.

However, that’s only because our defense has deteriorated.

And

when folks see what our D does with the upgrades in scheme and hard nosed coaching, I believe they will be singing a different tune. Not only will they sing the praises of our D, but I believe they will see that Aaron Murray is better than advertised, although that won’t be completely evident until next week when he outperforms both SC QBs.
