JUST PLEASE STOP GETTING ARRESTED, DAMMIT
Now our star freshmen are getting in on the action, with Alec Ogletree having an arrest warrant sworn out for him this morning.
Great. Just great. Excuse me while I go throw up.

This is simply ridiculous
Cut him. I don’t care if it’s only a $35 helmet. Cut his @$$.

According to Seth Emerson
The incident occured in June but the warrant was sworn out yesterday. Nearly three months for a football player? The ACCPD is slipping.
UGA PD I thought...
and this story seems extremely incomplete right now. Could be a stupid charge, or a stupid kid.
It's getting more complete
“Within the last day or two, the helmet was located and found in the possession of a person who has been identified as Alec Ogletree,” Williamson said.
That might be a little hard to explain. I guess he’s either really dumb or he grabbed the wrong helmet and never realized it. I know which one I want it to be, but I’ve also bad feeling of which one it is.
Or better yet___
STOP RECRUITING THUGS! Richt’s recruits are beginning to look like Donnan’s recruits from a moral standpoint but less talented.
I dont think a goat will do it now.

You're right
Only one thing will do now..

Lucky for you guys I took a class that taught me where and how to catch one.
I support this idea.
But I know where to catch one, too. Kinda tricky, though… it’s a particularly nasty one.

I give up....
I can’t find any reason for optimism anymore. Every time it seems like things are getting just a little bit better, another dumbass thing happens.

I'm sorry, but this seems a bit strange
For one thing it takes three months to get a warrant issued? Secondly, here’s the gem:
According to the UGA Police log, the warrant stems from an incident that occurred between 4 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. on June 15 at the Rankin Smith Center on campus.
Are you freaking kidding me? Is Barney Fife running the show in Athens now? Not only does it take three months to issue the warrant, but you’ve only narrowed the window down to about seven hours? Short of seeing Ogletree on a camera taking the helmet, how is this enough evidence for a warrant? Look, I’m not defending the kid if he is guilty as charged, but I find this slightly disturbing on how this warrant seems to be based on a lot of loose ends.

NM this rant
Just saw the update from Seth Emerson. Found on his person. Sigh…

Violation of NCAA rules?
As a criminal defense lawyer, I would volunteer to take Alec’s case “pro bono” but am concerned that would violate NCAA rules. The kid could very well have a valid defense IF he will keep his mouth shut until he talks to a lawyer. Moreover, he could actually be innocent not merely “not guilty.” Oh, yeah, the guys with the guns and badges ain’t rocket scientists and ain’t necessarily the good guys.
I am confused
Does this count toward this year’s Fulmer Cup standings or last year – is it the date of the incident or the date the incident came to light that controls?
What is the “year” for Fulmer Cup? Does it run from Friday before Labor Day to Thursday before Labor Day?
Am I the only one concerned about this?

It goes point-less
Fulmer Cup only counts for points scored in the offseason. Since the 2010 season has started, the Fulmer Cup is closed.
Although technically....
the warrant was issued yesterday morning before the season began.

I'll ask Orson.
It may be like recruiting, where you can count a signee toward more than one class.
Go 'Dawgs!
Here's the problem as I see it.
3 mos ago a helmet went missing – ok fine. Now they find that Alec has it in his possession, also ok fine. I fail to see how that means Alec stole it. He could have bought it for $5 at a yard sale or $20 at a pawn shop. My sense is there’s something (or more likely a whole lot of somethings) we don’t know yet.

According to the voices on local radio...
… Ogletree gave inconsistent statements to the police when asked how he got the helmet, which they thought gave him probable cause for an arrest. Apparently a judge agreed.
I agree that there seems to be more that hasn’t come out yet.
