Encouraging Georgia Bulldogs Historical Fact of the Day

The last time the Georgia Bulldogs lost to the South Carolina Gamecocks in a game in which the Red and Black were led by a redshirt freshman quarterback in a loss in which the two teams combined for 23 points was in 2001.

Georgia went 8-4 that year. The Bulldogs won the SEC the next year.

Definitely not saying it's true about this team

But the last time we lost to South Carolina (period) everybody went nuts and we finished #2 in the country. Let’s see a few more games before we declare the program dead.

Nope...We're done.

What? Are you going to tell me that Murray will only improve? That our run game will get better when all backs are healthy? That we will get the most dynamic WR back soon (and hopefully by this weekend)? That our D, while still learning a completely new scheme, already looks loads better than last season and will definitely improve? That even teams like VT, GT, etc. look like junk now, too. That I am going to be banned for comparing our team to GT?

I laugh at you, sir. For your arguments are of no merit.

Bobo sucks. Fire Richt.

Out.

Don't forget Fire Russ!

He’s 1-1 in true road games. Unacceptable.

Speaking of our 'dynamic WR'

has anyone heard if the NCAA will be hearing UGA’s appeal this week…and if an appeal is timely enough, could a new decision come in time for this weekend?

Jman781, that's just crazy talk!

RedCrake, Russ’s problem is that he’s an unimaginative and predictable Uga. Where’s the unexpected leaping at an Auburn player? It’s all “growl on first down, pee on second down, and lie on a bag of ice on third down.”

DavetheDawg, I wish I knew, but I haven’t heard anything.

Of course that also was when UGA was a well-coached football program. . .

The dynamics are so different now that its barely worth mentioning the two teams in the same breath.

CMR has completely lost any touch he once had with the team. It is a shell of what it once was, and is not likely to come back with him at the helm.

There are absolutely no championship qualities about this team. Observe Alabam a – that is how championship teams look these days.

There’s really nothign lefdt to do, but count down the days till the transition to a new staff is officially underway.

Guess there isn't much point in following the team this year then

Thanks for saving me the time.

Since 2006 . . .

UGA is 20-13 in SEC play. You can be as smarmy as you like, but those are the facts. If you’re happy with middle of the pack numbers like that, then that is your right. However, pointing out facts isn’t the same thing as being an alarmist. UGA is an average football program right now as evidenced by its middle of the road record.

Me smarmy?

Right back at ’cha.

That worked out really well for Tennessee...

I get that you’re bummed out by the loss, but back off the ledge. We have improved on literally everything that was wrong with last year. We changed what’s been holding us back — the defensive staff — and it’s going to take some time to fix. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither was Alabama. They lost to Louisiana-Monroe in their first year in the 3-4 under Saban, and I don’t think anyone can argue that South Carolina is a way better team than Louisiana-Monroe.

We haven't improved on everything...

…what is our offensive identity? Can anyone tell me? I can tell you what Bama’s identity is, what Florida’s is, what SC’s identity is (their identity ground us down to the tune of 187 rushing yards). Our problem is we don’t know offensively who we are. And for the exception of a special year (2007) when we had a couple of NFL 1st round draft picks leading us, we haven’t know since 2005. We need a new OC, and fast.

No one thinks we've improved on everything.

Right now, Florida’s offensive identity is “we sure miss Tim Tebow.” South Carolina’s offensive identity of running it between the tackles was unveiled yesterday for the first time in the Steve Spurrier era. Alabama’s offensive identity is the same pro-style identity as Georgia’s, only with more nondescript quarterbacking and better blocking. Your question about offensive identity is a valid one, but your examples don’t help your case. If you were going to go that route, Arkansas, Auburn, and Oregon would have been better examples.

Except that's not an accurate statement of Alabama's identity. . .

They are very multiple utilizing numerous formation and personnel groupings, which keep defenses off guard. They are also incredibly physical. Neither of those things have applied to a CMR coached football team in the last 5 years.
