So It's Not Just Us . . .
Team Speed Kills points out that, although the Gators' domination of the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party over the last two decades has garnered the most headlines, Florida has been dominant against the entire SEC East since the divisional split. Among Eastern Division squads, only Tennessee has had a better record against the Sunshine State Saurians since 1992, and not by much.

To be fair...
the SEC East has pretty much consisted of us, the gators and the volunteers. South Carolina, Kentucky & Vanderbilt just haven’t put up much of a fight. SC & KY only made it to a bowl game 7 of those years, and Vandy only went to 1. It’s not so much that Florida has been that good it’s that SC, KY & Vandy have been that bad. Nothing against any of those three schools.

I would agree with that sentiment . . .
. . . were it not for the facts that South Carolina always plays us within a touchdown, Kentucky has gone 2-2 against Georgia in the last four years, and Vanderbilt beat the Bulldogs between the hedges in 2006 (for just the second time since the early 1960s).
Florida is beating the little guys, against whom we are struggling.

um well yeah kind of.
I mean you’re correct that Florida is beating the little guys, having lost one game since the SEC split into divisions, to South Carolina (1), Kentucky (0), and Vandy (0). But they also hold a 28-8 record against UGA and Tennessee, so it’s clearly not just the little guys. I’ll admit, even I was a bit surprised to see those totals.
You misapprehend my point, Cardsfan25.
I never suggested that the Gators were only beating the little guys; that obviously isn’t true. I was arguing quite the opposite.
Specifically, I was responding to podunkdawg’s statement that it wasn’t “so much that Florida has been that good” as it was that Kentucky, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt have been that bad. I proceeded to refute this point by demonstrating that, while Georgia has struggled against the three lesser teams in the division, Florida has not.
In short, I was defending the legitimacy of the Gators’ dominance. Take “yes” for an answer next time. :)

Sadly
I find myself forever skeptical of the Dawg folk, which sometimes leaves me in predicaments like this. Foot in mouth, and might I add a very good point by you Mr. TKK. As you were.
Not a problem, Cardsfan25.
I rip on the Gators plenty, so it’s an understandable reaction. I do defend them when they deserve it, though, and Florida’s record against the rest of the East speaks for itself and tells no lies.

well kind of my point but not really
i shouldn’t try to say intelligent football things while suffering from accountant’s block.
To more properly word things – I’m not really impressed that we’re not alone when we’re speaking of KY, SC & Vandy because all three teams have struggled to have a winning season during the period in question as evidenced by the few times they’ve been to a bowl game.

Fair enough.
What really leapt out at me was the fact that the Volunteers are only two games ahead of us in their record against the Gators. Given the fact that Tennessee consistently was one of the top two teams in the East throughout the ‘90s, I guess I’d have figured that the Big Orange had beaten Florida more often than they have. Of course, the story for Tennessee in the ’90s was much like the story for Georgia in the ’00s: constantly chasing Florida, sometimes overtaking the Gators when they were down a little, but typically taking the role of runner-up.

I hate Florida.
the only way i could hate them more is if they were the Florida Snakes.

Because last night,
I experienced adventures in snake-killing when a young non-poisonous snake decided it would be a good idea to bite me.
Fortunately for me, a forward thinking southern gentleman (my brother in law) had put a gallon jug of water in my car just before I left Georgia in June. Granted he did so in case I had a sudden overheating problem with the car during the almost 800 mile journey home and not because he anticipated I would use it to kill a small snake, but regardless, the fact is – he provided me with the very implement I needed to kill the legless creature that decided to bite me. Chivalry is not dead (but that stupid snake is!)

Sorry about your adventure last evening.
Really, though, I was just taking advantage of the opportunity to quote Indiana Jones. :)

Since it wasn't poisonous -
the whole thing is really hilarious. I’m sure had video been taken, everyone would get a great laugh out of my antics at the time. There was much flailing, hollering and profanity.
Also, I love genuine instances that prove Southern Chivalry is not dead.

I know this isn't a 1:1 relationship
But if everyone else was getting beat up by a bully at school, would your father not have taught you how to protect yourself?
I doubt it.
What would constitute protecting ourselves?
That’s not a challenge; I’m trying to understand the analogy, and its applicability to our present situation.
Personally, I largely don’t care what other teams do against one another, except insofar as it impacts the ‘Dawgs. I want Georgia to beat Florida, regardless of whether the Gators are 8-0 or 0-8. The need and desire to defeat the Gators are not impacted by Florida’s success, vel non, against the rest of the division.
