The First Annual Dawgsports Sacrificial Goat Roast Plans
So the "Where are we meeting?" poll is closed, and the Blind Pig Tavern is the hands-down winner with 47% of the vote, while the closest competition, the Mellow Mushroom garnered a mere 22%. I just booked my flight home (I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!) and things are moving along nicely. Now all we have to do is convince the nice folks at the Blind Pig to allow us to gather, sacrifice & roast a goat and then watch the game. Does anyone happen to have a friend at the Blind Pig they'd be willing to call up to set this thing up?
Since the subject was mentioned, I'll throw it out there - anyone want that T-shirt? Anyone have a great idea for procuring said T-Shirts?

If they won't let you sacrifice a goat...
… then I propose an alternative. Find one of those big restaurant-kitchen-size slabs of butter, carve it into a goat shape, and then hike to the arch as a group, put the butter-goat in front of it, and melt it down with a brulee torch.
It’s almost the same thing… and a lot more legal. :-)
And on a related note...
… a Google search for “goat made of butter” actually returns a relevant result:

Cafe Press
we can customize our own tshirts there!!!!!
I’ll work on that more later, it’s time to go dancing. Meanwhile, please upload appropriate Tshirt imagery here!
This looks promising:

Any good architects wanna take a stab at building the Levitical Altar?
Of course you could pimp it out UGA style, with some silver plated horns for bling.
While we are at it might as well pool together the list of things needing to be sacrificed at the altar, sounds like the makings of a great open comment thread the week before you guys meet.
Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win.

I ain't afraid of no goat.
Thanks for taking the, um, sacrificial animal of choice by the horns on this one. I’m looking forward to it.
Maybe we could kill two birds beasts of burden with one stone by sacrificing a buffalo instead? Or, you know, maybe we could just order a big basket of wings.
Go 'Dawgs!
yeah
I know a cook there – he says they really don’t have any room in the kitchen for rituals.
BTW, they have mugs you can buy for like $4 and bring back any time to get less expensive refills on beer. Definitely do it if you expect to go there more than once.
I already have one...
So this whole thing just got even better for me.
I’ll see if I can come up with some info on the shirt front.

We could do the goat Major League style
We go to Kelly’s Jamaican at Five Points, get an order of curried goat, and all symbolically take a bite. If KFC worked for Cerrano, this can work for us. Not only did he hit a curveball out of the park, he became President and got to sell insurance!

Possible tshirt front
I envisioned the lettering in red, but for some reason, can’t convince photoshop that red is not grey?

"Never refuse to do a kindness unless the act would work great injury to yourself, and never refuse to take a drink- under any circumstances." Mark Twain
I'm good with that, . . .
. . . but we need to steer clear of the oval “G” logo. I’d just as soon not get a “cease and desist” letter from Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall.
Also, if we could include the site URL on the back, MaconDawg and I would appreciate the advertising.

Is The Arch off limits?
I was working on a possible design which features it prominently…complete with a goat hanging on a spit between the outside columns… so that would suck.

you can use both the g and the arch with permission from the university as long as the shirts are not for profit
i used to design the shirts for my sorority here, so i had to learn the rules. i also know where to get shirts printed cheap. i can take on the shirts for the event if yall would like

That would be wonderful
as with the rest of the event, i’d like to see a poll to choose a design from whatever everyone can put together :)
How does the university feel about making shirts and selling them as a fund raiser for a charity of some sort?

I like the idea of the arch
i just am not so talented. All i did was copy & paste images on top of one another ine photoshop.

I was trying to use the gorgeous ds logo from top of the page
but it’s tooooooo small. Care to upload a bigger one for Tshirt useage?

I just sent you an e-mail with an attachment, podunkdawg.
Let me know whether you received it, and whether the attachment suits your needs in the logo department.

Got it - Thanks!
I was afk cooking myself a delectable treat for supper :)

Hmmmm
What if we make this tshirt design thing a full-on contest then oneloyaldawg – if you would handle procuring the actual tshirts :)
I’ll put a post together with tshirt design contest rules :)

I'm going to be honest
I’m looking forward to putting faces to some of these names. The bigger question is whether we will need to wear nametags or not since most of us assume fairly anonymous internet identities for professional or other reasons.
http://hobnailboot.wordpress.com/
I think that's an individual choice.
Personally, I would find it helpful it we had name tags with the person’s real name in large letters and screen name in smaller letters. If a person wanted to keep his secret identity secret, he could simply put his first name instead of his full name. You know, the way the drunks do at their meetings.

I knew that joke was coming, . . .
. . . yet I laughed at it all over again when it arrived.

Well, it's hard coming up with new material...
