Toughest games for UGA by month
Ever notice how the season always seems to go by so fast once we're in the middle of it? It's because without the 6 weeks of conference titles, Bowl games, and further protraction attached to the end of every regular season, the whole sh-bang would only span 3 months.
I like to compartmentalize chronological events, so I'm thinking about what our biggest games are in September, October, and November respectively. Say the team only gets one really good day per lunar cycle, when do you want to hit 'em?
September 11 @ South Carolina - Last year Stephen Garcia could've hit an open guy on the final play to beat us in Athens. We've played well in Colombia lately, but Garcia is now the veteran QB in this league (Masoli not withstanding) and we can't count on his mediocrity when we take the new D up there.
October 30 vs UF - Who else? Actually we'll play 4 Eastern division games in this month, even the least of which far outhweighs whatever we do in Ralphie's pasture, but since the tie-breaker comes down to the head-to-head game, this is the one we need most. Should be fine as long as we wear red jerseys and helmets.
November 27 hosting Tech - We had 2 weeks to get ready for the damn option in '08 and we still got burned (in my last home game as a senior). Sure, the road game with Auburn is in-conference, matters more, whatever. I hate you, Tech. And don't think just because they lost their backfield that they're down - they'll reload (anyone can run the freaking option) and make us look bad again if we aren't up for them.

I'd say that's a pretty good breakdown
Of course, I’m sweating the Auburn game. But if forced to choose only one game in November to win, it’d be Tech, and that includes the Bengals from … Pocatello?
I would also like to add another game that you didn't mention...
South Carolina, Florida, and possibly GT will be tough games for us, as well as Auburn, but the key game I feel that can potentially throw our season into a spiral is Arkansas in September. That’s right, Arkansas. Right after a tough South Carolina game, we host Arkansas with their Heisman trophy candidate QB. Unexpectedly, we have somewhat of a not-so-tough home schedule this year, and to me, they have the potential to pull the upset against us and keep us from becoming undefeated at home this season. I can’t remember the last time we didn’t lose a single home game during a football season, but if you talk about a time where we will not let any opponent win in our house, this season is it.
I might do a list of predictions in the coming weeks just to stir the pot to get people talking about the season, but I feel the game against Arkansas will be in the top 3, perhaps the second most important.
Arky
Yeah, I looked at Arkansas, and I agree they’ll be tough. I went with Scarolina though because it happens to be our defense’s first test against a passing offense (Spurrier’s no less) and it comes on the road.
Granted, Arkansas has a better QB in Mallet, but he’s only a Heisman contender until the Razorbacks start losing. That, I hope to see start happening in Athens, and I like our chances simply for the fact that our offense will be more balanced than theirs. From what we think we know about the Arkansas secondary, Murray will have open targets, and if we don’t have better rushing numbers I’ll eat your hat.
