Pardon the Roar Coming From South Georgia Today,

but many of us just learned that the Dawgs and the much despised Giant Water Lizards have agreed to extend the Cocktail Party in Jacksonville through 2017.  It seems all that remains is for the Jacksonville/Duval County governing body to approve the deal which is sweetened some for both universities.  Unless the governing authority there is as inept as the Georgia General Assembly and the United States Congress, it will be unanimously approved so that the MEGA MILLIONS can be infused into the First Coast economy.  Hoo-damn-ray!

Cool.

I know a lot of fans (particularly younger ones from metro Atlanta who have never been to a game by the St. John’s River) don’t like it, but this is good news for any Georgia fan who (a) cares about tradition or (b) believes recruiting in South Georgia and North Florida is important. I happen to fall into both categories, so I regard this as good news.

Go 'Dawgs!

I like it as well

It’s really what separates that game from every other border war rivalry game.
I think I’m still a year away from another trip down there – need Halloween to separate itself from that weekend (yeah, my kids are THAT age!)

"yeah, my kids are THAT age!"

Too young for their first AK-47 but old enough to gouge their opponents’ eyes out?

I kid, I kid:)

Well done.

I can understand how you couldn’t notice that lying there and just walk past it.

Alternating

I think I remember hearing Richt say he wanted to alternate between Atlanta and Jacksonville, as it would be a similar distance from Athens as Gainesville is from Jax.

Eff that, we play enough games in Atlanta with Georgia Tech, SEC championships, Chik-fil-A Bowls, and temporarily relocated Sugar Bowls without scheduling the Cocktail party in downtown Atlanta. I mean, the game comes on the Fall break for UGA students, just so they can take a long weekend of travel, leisurely (vigorous) drinking, and swearing.

Plus

If we ever get into that Chik-Fil-A Kickoff Classic, we’d have ANOTHER game in Atlanta. I wouldn’t be surprised if eventually we do give up a home game for that, since as of now we’re letting teams from all over the South East into our recruiting hotbed.
