Many of us in the Georgia blogosphere have wailed and gnashed our teeth about the black helmet, black pants uniform combination used by the Dawgs against Florida in 2009. Many people generally now refer to this combination as the "Grambling uniforms."
But if you thought the helmets on Grambling uni's were bad, how about this?

Bill King's latest blog entry reveals that Georgia's helmets, redesigned to their current (red) form by Vince Dooley in 1964, went through an iteration as a white helmet with a red and a black oval "G," with red and black stripes down the middle.
The full story is on King's blog, and is definitely worth a read. The white-helmet design obviously went far enough, though, to cause someone to make an actual white helmet with a red "G," one with a black "G," and photograph Preston Ridlehuber kneeling behind them wearing the Dawgs' new white-panted uniform.
Dang, we dodged a bullet on that one, didn't we?
