Baylor's addition to the Pac-10 being met with resistance by Cal-Berkeley bec of Baylor's religious ties.
I hate to say I told you so, but . . . I told you so!
I owe a hat tip to Team Speed Kills for the above link, as well as for offering some thoughts about conference expansion upon which I intend to expound in a posting that will appear here shortly after midnight tonight.

Just like earlier
It seems to me this is very much like Augusta National disallowing women golfers. The only difference I can see is that as public universities, the institutions cannot discriminate against entry to themselves because of religious views. The 2nd level choice to avoid institutional connections to a private religious college is out of bounds of a non-discrimination question (at least it would seem).
Do you wonder if it all sort of went down like
the high ups at Berkley were thiiiis close to going along until they got on the Googles and found out about Kenneth Starr. That had to be the 10-ton warhead that crushed the camel, or in the alternative, the longhorn.

Oh, nah
Everybody deserves a second chance, even when the maliciously prosecuted a president for something completely unrelated to his public job.
I’m glad that adultery is illegal here in America, or who knows how bad off we’d be….
RITE?
Yay!
Rehashing divisive political scandals of the 90’s! The national dialogue is much healthier now, so I don’t see how this could possibly go wrong.

Let's steer clear of the politics, please.
I’ll practice what I preach by refraining from replying to your characterization, with which I disagree, but to which I will not respond because our disagreement is beside the point and this ain’t that kind of weblog.
To answer your question, Ivory Tower, I doubt whether Kenneth Starr had anything to do with it. Unless given a good reason to think otherwise, I’m taking this one at face value and assuming that some of the same Pac-10 member institutions who were uneasy about BYU’s religious affiliation were uneasy about Baylor’s religious affiliation, as well.
Go 'Dawgs!
I got the sarcasm.
Whether it’s said seriously or sarcastically, though, it’s still getting deeper into a partisan political dispute than I’d care for us to go here. If anything, the sarcasm makes it more likely to start a flame war, and I don’t want that.
Thanks for your understanding, blackertai.
Go 'Dawgs!
But if the deal does go through
They could make Cal-Baylor a yearly rivalry and dub it the “Culture War.” Potheads vs. teetotalers, yeehah!

Apparently Baylor is out
Somebody on ESPN just said that Texas, A&M, OU, OSU, TTU, and Colorado have accepted the Pac-10’s request to join them.
Well, ESPN also thinks Richt is on the hot seat.
Let’s wait for a reputable source (something on SBN).
