2010 College Football Hall of Fame Class to be Announced May 27
I'm not particularly interested in the corporate sponsors of the event, but the salient datum announced by the National Football Foundation today was that this year's College Football Hall of Fame Division I-A induction class will be announced at noon on Thursday, May 27.
If Erk Russell is selected by the Veterans Committee, it will be for the divisional class, so it does not appear that we will know for sure whether Coach Russell has been inducted on May 27. However, we will learn the fate of three damn good 'Dawgs (all of whom appeared on my ballot), with the word on Coach Russell's candidacy hopefully to follow.
Stay tuned. . . .

Addendum:
After posting this, I sent an e-mail to National Football Foundation communications director Phil Marwill, who wrote me back that the divisional class will be announced on May 11.
We’ll know six days hence whether the Veterans Committee cleared Erk Russell for admission.
Go 'Dawgs!
Coach Russell
T Kyle King,
Thank you for all of your efforts to get Coach Russell’s name inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. If there was anything I could do to help, I would be willing to put forth the effort myself. Erk deserves to be there, and after he is, UGA needs to erect a statue of him right next to the one of Coach Dooley. After all, they were: “Dooley’s Dogs”, and
“Erk’s Dogs, Too.”
I just read your original article about CBHOF. Seriously….Jake Scott wasn’t already in?
That makes no sense at all.
Agreed . . .
. . . but better late than never.
Also, Pete Rose has never even appeared on the Baseball Hall of Fame ballot, so at least we’re doing better than the national pastime. (Plus which, the Baseball Hall of Fame is located in Cooperstown, which had nothing actually to do with the game, whereas the College Football Hall of Fame is relocating to Atlanta, a hub of the sport, so we’ve got that going for us, too.)
Go 'Dawgs!
