Our Long National Nightmare Is Over.
No, the internet is still chock full of Jersey Shore references.
No, Paul Finebaum and Colin Cowherd are both still free men. Well relatively, since Finebaum's still in Alabama, which is 62.5% kind of like imprisonment.
But yes, Logan Gray will be returning to not play quarterback, probably fair catch punts and potentially see the field at wide receiver. (H/T, the Red & Black).
I remain convinced that Logan Gray seeing meaningful time split wide would mean that something has gone definitely and undeniably not very good/wrenchingly wrong in the development of some other guys, but at least we now know that Greg Bingham and Parker Welch can develop their craft with an added degree of anonymity. And that's comforting. Until later . . .

Being from Alabama....
…the real imprisonment isn’t living in Alabama, its having to be an Alabama or Auburn fan. Thank-fully i have been set free from that prison and am able to call The Dawgs of Athens my team of choice.
I’m glad to hear that Gray is staying. Its comforting to know that we are now just 2 steps from being in the QB pit of despair instead of only 1. And i have to agree, Even if gray was allowed to work the entire fall with the WR there would have to being something very wrong for Gray to see significant playing time at the slot. At the same time i wish him the greatest success as he continues his career in Athens.

So your saying we're only being nursed to health...
….so we can have our full strength as we are to be tortured in the QB pit of despair regardless?!

Whoa . . .
In response to constructive criticisms that I was overly negative, I introduced a new upbeat feature called “Manic Kyle Monday” on Monday . . . and the Diamond Dogs won a game on Tuesday . . . and the announcement that Logan Gray was staying came on Wednesday. . . .
Could there actually be power to positive thinking, at least as long as it is kept in the realm of hope and faith rather than in the arena of arrogance and overconfidence?
All right, I’ve seen wet fleece on dry ground. If there’s dry fleece on wet ground tomorrow—-e.g., if there’s more good news for Georgia on Thursday—-I may actually start to believe again!

Don't test the fates
You are being toyed with.
Logan is staying, but that’s only the absence of bad news, not the presence of good. We have a backup QB now (who has the chance to push for a starting job), but nothing more. Leaving would have been bad. It may be exhilirating to have been fired up without effect (as Sir Winston would say), but being shot at and missed ain’t good news.
And winning a non-SEC baseball game in shootout is hardly good news. Did our team ERA go up or down as a result of our latest triumph? Winning ’em all is hard, but – then again – so is losing ’em all.
Don’t get all happy on me.

Much obliged, first and thom
I almost experienced a fleeting moment of happiness there.
Thanks for talking me down; if left unchecked, my positive attitude might have led to joy! :)

You know, the Wildcat isn't that hard
Plenty of teams use it at least somewhat successfully — like South Carolina vs. Clemson last year.
It worked with Branden Smith. There’s absolutely no reason why Bobo can’t devise a successful play package that features #6 lining up in the shotgun. Sure, the D knew what was going to happen when he lined up in non-garbage time situations, but they always know what’s going to happen when a non-QB (or non-starter) takes a snap from the shotgun. And it still works for other teams, better than it ever seemed to for Gray. Gray is an actual quarterback who should actually be a threat to throw; but he never got the chance to. I can’t see any reasons for the complete failure of the Gray plays last season other than planning or execution, or both.
If this guy is sticking around, he deserves to be used. I agree with MaconDawg; seeing Gray at WR is not going to be a good sign. Devise a package that plays to his strengths; have more than, say, two plays to run out of it; practice it; and then run it. If he’s as talented as we’ve been hearing, another marginal season that squanders his abilities will be a massive letdown for both him and the whole team.
Leaving insightful football commentary and analysis to other people since 2006.
But has he proved he can even be a running threat?
