Dr. Saturday Marvels at the Teams with No First-Round Draft Picks

My questions arise from the opposite angle. How is the Big 12 not the dominant conference in college football? How has Oklahoma managed to whiff on national titles in recent years? Look at the list of first-round picks. The Sooners produced three of the first four players taken. As a league, the Big 12 turned out five of the top six, six of the first fourteen, and nine of the top 24. In "The West Wing," political consultant Bruno Gianelli once commented of female voters, "I think anybody who's got a five point majority and still doesn't control the agenda might be spending a little too much time reading about how to get a man over his fear of commitment." Based on last night's draft, doesn't the same hold true for the Big 12? Go 'Dawgs!
