Cognitive Dissonance, Sooner-Style
They're just mad that we've finally gotten our revenge on them for Gary Gibbs.

Since I live in Sooner land
I suspect y’all won’t be surprised that I got a phone call the same day the hiring was announced asking my thoughts on CWM. I have some friends that know I frequent this blog in order to stay on top of all things Bulldogs. So to some extent my friend was looking for the thoughts of the Bulldog Nation. My response was simple – We fired Willie for a reason. Some of the Sooner fans are worried.
Beyond that the Tulsa World is our version of the AJC. Not usually worth the paper it’s printed on.

Well...
… I suspect that Oklahoma’s revisionist historical ways were going to catch up with us sooner or later. (Ha ha! That never gets old…)
To be fair to Coach Martinez, though, I suspect he fell prey to the old adage that successful people are frequently promoted to their level of incompetence. When Brian VanGorder was the Defensive Coordinator for the Red and Black, Coach Martinez’s defensive backs were quite good… Greg Blue and Thomas Davis are the first two names that spring to my mind. Once VanGorder left for greener dollars pastures, though, Martinez was elevated to a position that he is clearly unable to successfully perform with consistency. With any luck, the Sooners will benefit from his apparent talent as a position coach. If Bob Stoops is smart, though, he will avoid making the mistake that Mark Richt did by promoting Willie Two Thumbs beyond that level.
On a completely different note, however, the thing that continues to stump me most is how every single flippin’ media outlet seems convinced that Mark Richt’s neck is already placed in the guillotine, and the Bulldog Nation is just waiting for one more mediocre season before pulling the release cord. From the evidence that I’ve seen, this perception could not be further from the truth, and yet the media continually beats the drum announcing that the heat of Mark Richt’s seat is rising… facts be damned.
Unless he gets caught in bed with a dead girl or a live boy, MARK RICHT WILL NOT BE FIRED AFTER THE 2010 COLLEGE FOOTBALL SEASON… GET THIS THROUGH YOUR FREAKIN’ THICK SKULLS, MEDIA TYPES.
yea, its crazy talk - i think it just stems from so many 10 win season and no NC
people NEVER understand the business side of this. YOu dont fire a winning coach with a solid althelitic program costing millions of dollars just to find someone unproven to pay them even more.
"I look forward to developing an aggressive, physical, attacking style defense that offenses will not look forward to playing against." - Coach Grantham
Plus which . . .
. . . we like the guy. We like his wife. We like his family. We genuinely don’t want the guy to leave.
Now I know how the South Carolina fans feel about the annual drumbeat that this is the year Steve Spurrier retires. These are the same idiots who thought it was possible Mark Richt would be fired at the end of the 2009 season. It’s just nuts, but there’s no sense trying to reason with a moron. When someone thinks something that is clearly divorced from the realm of reality, you just have to shake your head and leave him to his stupidity.
