Georgia Bulldogs v. Charleston Southern Buccaneers Basketball Game Night Open Comment Thread
Charleston Southern Buccaneers at Georgia Bulldogs, Dec 28, 2010 7:00 PM EST
By the time this posting appears, my family and I will be in transit to Memphis, so it is safe to assume that this game, like the last one, will be followed by an ill-informed roundball wrapup that is far from instantaneous. Likewise, this comment thread is not intended to take the place of the week-long random open comment thread; rather, it is intended to deal with a specific subject while leaving the general discussion for the earlier thread.
Mark Fox's Georgia Bulldogs host the Charleston Southern Buccaneers this evening, marking the Red and Black's second recent date with a team from the Big South Conference. The first came in an outing against High Point that produced the only outcome of the season to be determined by double digits. The Buccaneers have fared little better in their prior clashes with the Hoop Dogs, as the Athenians previously pounded the Bucs 116-59 in 1997 and 79-59 in 2003. In sum, anything less than a blowout would be a disappointment for a program seeking just its third undefeated December in three decades. (The Bulldogs also posted an unblemished ledger in the final calendar month of the year in the fall of 1982; that campaign culminated in a Final Four appearance in the winter of 1983.)

I'm not trying to rob McSlugger of the chance to be the first to comment, . . .
. . . but I currently am on board a Delta flight to Memphis, and this is my first experience with in-flight wi-fi (well, except for watching the “Victorious” airplane episode on Nick).
For the record, I did not have on my blue suede shoes when I boarded the plane. I’ll get back to you when we touch down in the land on the Delta blues on whether we’re in the middle of the pouring rain.
Go 'Dawgs!
Let me know if you find the Queen of Memphis
and if you fall in love with her.

For the record, there is not, . . .
. . . I repeat, not a pretty little thing waiting for this King down in the jungle room!

Its just that she’s going to be awfully lonely.

good first half
but we looked terrible in the second. Good thing we were up like we were….or maybe that’s why we looked so bad in the 2nd. We need to step on an opponent’s neck when down.
So far we've really only put the screws to
High Point, and that team was completely overmatched. I could’ve got points in the paint on that frontcourt.
Well, in our defense, he did take all of the starters out for a large amount of time in the second half,
but yeah, the bench needs some seasoning. Atleast they’re getting it now.

It's about what you'd expect
Took my youngest son to the game last night. Sparse crowd (students not in town) and generally low key. Got up big, CSU couldn’t throw it in a lake. Six minutes into the second half, we’re up thirtyish. 2nd team comes on and you watch 8-10 minutes of basketball that is, more than anything, sloppy. Like you’d see in a pickup game after everyone’s tired and nobody gives a rat’s ass anymore. Some late threes by CSU cut the deficit. Game never in doubt, just sloppy play for the middle half of the 2nd period.
