Permit me to begin by announcing that, if there is an ill-informed roundball wrapup following this evening's game, it will not be instantaneous, as my son and I will be heading to Macon to watch Mark Fox's Georgia Bulldogs take on the Mercer Bears at the sold-out University Center. I don't rule out the possibility that we may visit with MaconDawg while we're there.
The Baptists, who languish at 3-7 overall and stand at 0-2 in Atlantic Sun Conference play, are hosting the Hoop Dogs for the first time since 1994. The Red and Black seek their sixth straight win of the season and their 15th consecutive victory over Mercer (dating back to 1959) in the 75th series meeting between the two teams since they first met on the hardwood in 1907.

… I’m in rainy Athens, GA, and I can’t find such a thing, either, since I have DirecTV and an ISP that doesn’t pay ESPN’s ransom.
God, I hate ESPN3. I wish they would just let people subscribe directly to it instead of burying it in people’s cost just to access the internet.

Yes.
The real kick is that on the DirecTV sports pack, you get all of the Fox Sports Net channels, and most of the Charter/Comcast Sports channels… except Comcast Sports Southeast. (Yaaaay.)

I was thinking of doing a webcast of the game in the background while I do interpretive dance along with the action....
But I have a feeling you guys might be needing the use of your eyes in the future, so I decided against it.

Sorry, I gotta rage for a minute.
This is so f***ing stupid. I live 2 miles from friggin’ ATHENS GEORGIA, and I have no way of watching the Georgia Bulldogs basketball team play on a night when their game is being televised on a regular channel, programmed on ESPN Full Court, AND streamed live on the intertubes.
Now, if I had a radio in my house, I could listen to the game on the radio, but I usually stream my radio over the internet, which is also blacked out due to broadcasting rights issues, and I have no in-house radio. So because I choose not to sell my eternal soul to the godless cable companies, I’m stuck watching the damn gametracker on ESPN and trolling the in-game thread with my random rage.
This sucks.
On the upside, I am watching Navy football, so there’s that.

What I can't figure out is what is the benefit to Comcast
People aren’t going to switch over based on their CSS coverage (and some of us in more rural areas can’t even get Comcast)… So wouldn’t they make more money from advertising if they made the game available for more people to watch either through the internet or by allowing/selling the rights to Direct and Dish?

The supidest part...
… is that I get most other Comcast channels on DirecTV. I get Comcast Sports Mid-Atlantic, New England, Chicago, West, and Bay Area. What makes Comcast Sports Southeast so special that it’s apparently one of the only Comcast channels in the entire friggin’ country not on the DirecTV sports pack?
It makes the have the kind of ‘roid rage I would have if I’d ever taken steroids.

Thanks! Unfortunately, as I only have internet service and no TV, I cannot enjoy local programming on ESPN3. And my normal TV site does not cover local Georgia basketball often unless we’re on a big channel.
After next Tuesday you should be good to go...
FSN on Thursday which should be covered and SECNet/ESPN from there on out which should be covered as well.

On the broadcasting thing: it makes a certain amount of sense that I can’t find some kind of live coverage of the Fox Hounds, but y’all on the east coast? Really?!
And as far as the broadcasters themselves go…My word but the quality of color and play-by-play has in general gotten unlistenable/watchable.
I don’t know how many times a Fox broadcaster said on the air and with the game being actually played, “…and we’ll get right back to the game, (but first I would like to issue a lengthy soliloquy on matters not germane to anything except my particularly bizarre stream-of-consciousness that would make William Faulkner want to just puke)…”!
ESPN is the Devil. If you want to watch any kind of sports, you are dealing with the Devil.
