We currently have 16 entries in our brownie contest and late this evening someone made a single donation of $2,500! Current balance needed is now $2,759.50. I'm sure we can get this done by Christmas - 9 more days to go (I'm not counting today anymore.) That's an average donation rate of roughly $306 per day for the next 9 days.
Just so you know, when they originally planned this fundraiser, the family anticipated it would take 6 months to raise the money. But then a whole bunch of folks from various SBNation blogs pitched in and raised about 6k in the first week - nearly half the necessary amount. Then the donations slowed considerably. Don't know about anyone else, but I've checked the donations page several times a day every day and I watched it slow down and got worried.
Now it looks like we just might get it done by Christmas! As soon as the funds are raised, 4 Paws will start training the one special dog just for Deeds. They ask the families to raise 13,000 of the 22,000 it costs to train.
I know the Mauss family has said it several times over, but let me repeat it - THANK YOU to everyone for donating, posting, tweeting, or otherwise passing the word!
