Mailbag Time!: Answering E-Mails from Auburn Fans
Over the weekend, I received a couple of e-mails from Auburn fans. Naturally, I have omitted their names, but I have reproduced the messages they sent me in their entirety, together with my responses. Wrote one Tiger booster:
AU kicked your Dawgs
Auburn 49 - Puppies 31. How'd you like that you #$%$$#%$%$#%%$$?
WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I replied:
I didn't like it at all. I'm sure you felt the same way last year, and the year before that, and the year before that, and the year before that. I suspect you'll feel the same way when the NCAA vacates the win in the record book, but that remains to be seen.
I send my best wishes to your family and you for a healthy and happy Thanksgiving.
Kyle
I also received the following e-mail from a different Auburn supporter, who evidently took the time to read my SB Nation biography before putting together a message that carries an adult language advisory:
T. Kyle King is a lawyer, a husband, a father, a Methodist, a University of Georgia graduate and football season ticket holder, the former co-host of "The Dawg Show" on local cable, and the co-author of Dawg Sports, SB Nation's Georgia Bulldogs weblog. And above all....a complete pussy who can't handle his own teams bullshit issues.....when the smoke clears and we are in the MNC....you can kiss our collective asses.
AUNAT
UGA.....Winners of the 2010 Fulmer Cup
12 arrrests in 2010
and a state full of sore losers
I answered:
Thanks for reading! It's always great hearing from SEC fans who are passionate supporters of their team.
I send my best wishes to your family and you for a healthy and happy Thanksgiving.
Kyle
I so thoroughly enjoy the snappy repartee with opposing fans that I thought I’d take the time to share these clever exchanges with all of you. Ladies and gentlemen, the Auburn Tigers . . . confirming opposing fans’ stereotypes since 1892!
Go ‘Dawgs! Auburna delenda est!

An Auburn victory in Tuscaloosa, a SEC championship AND a national championship are defintely NOT part of 'The Process'.

Honestly,
If Auburn had been classy about all of this, wouldn’t that trouble you a bit? As in, “what has happened to all I believe in and hold to be true in the world???” It’s comforting to know that some things don’t change.

I think
these are made up, like Penthouse forum letters are. I never get that kind of hate mail. :-)
Look, we were due to win. Be thankful it’s a close rivalry. Think about how bad you’d hate us if we owned you the last 20 years like Florida does.
I’m done fighting. Let’s make up. Seriously, who are you going to root for? Alabama? S.Carolina? Oregon?

I'm sure they're not made up.
Yes, y’all were due for a win. I know a few Auburn alumni whom I like.
And to answer your question: Yes, yes, and yes.
For obvious reasons, I didn't divulge the identities of the authors . . .
. . . but, SB Nation colleague to SB Nation colleague, I’ll be happy to forward them to you as proof of their authenticity (or, as Terry Bowden would have put it, “AUthenticity”).
I agree with NCT. I know and like several Auburn fans and alumni (including you, War Eagle Atlanta), and I like a much larger percentage of the Auburn fans and alumni with whom I have come into contact since joining the blogosphere than before, but, yes, I will be rooting for Alabama in the Iron Bowl, South Carolina in the SEC Championship Game, and whomever the Tigers play in their bowl game. Conference loyalty runs only as far back as 1933; the spirit of rivalry runs back to 1892.
Go 'Dawgs!
For the record, both guys wrote me back, too.
The second guy settled down and responded much more reasonably, writing:
You sure have a way of making someone feel like shit. Thanks and have a happy T-Day yourself…..
I give that guy credit for changing his tone when given the opportunity.
The first guy, however, made no such effort at being civil and conciliatory, as he replied:
I appreciate you replying. I guess you had no ambulances to chase today. Probably just defending some more UGAY players.
Auburn – 49 Puppies – 31.
WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I managed to resist the temptation to continue to engage this clever devil in further witty exchanges worthy of the Algonquin Round Table.
Go 'Dawgs!
Very well
I understand, but I still pull for Georgia in most situations. But let me be clear: if you guys don’t lay an absolute whooping on Boise next year, I swear I’m sending Nick Fairley over to each of your houses with print-outs from this blog.

I understand and accept your terms.
If Nick Fairley comes to my house and goes after my knees, though, I’m calling the police.
I doubt if he’ll do jail time, but he might end up on probation. You don’t reckon an Auburn man would have any familiarity with probation, do you? :)
Go 'Dawgs!
Why bother with the police
I’ve got 50 pounds on Nicky boy and a 9 Iron I haven’t used in months.

now now RedCrake
that might land you in jail, and while we do have 84,000 lawyers around here who would probably defend you free of charge, and I’m sure we’d all happily chip in to pay the fines, etc. it still wouldn’t be nice.
I can bake like a demon.
It wouldn't be the first time
If I’ve learned anything from Lil Nicky its that if I spear the first guard I see in the back, everyone will just look the other way and leave me alone…. right?

Personally,
I would have forwarded their identities to Xinyue56789…
