The World's Largest Outdoor College Football Poetry Contest: A Fan Poll Before the Georgia-Florida Game
I feel guilty for failing to give credit to each example of artistic expression to have appeared here this week; although I linked to the first few such poems in this week’s Too Much Information, additional fanposts were posted here between the time Too Much Information was scheduled and the time it actually appeared. However, since Bulldog Nation has been working overtime in this department, I thought I would call adequate attention to the fine job all of you have done by putting it to a vote. The winner, as always, will receive a Samsung Smart TV the satisfaction of a job well done.
Before we begin casting our ballots, let’s review the bidding:
- VDawg’s "Poetry in Motion"
- podunkdawg’s "I Need A Hero" (Bonnie Tyler)
- opsomath’s "Ulysses was a Dawg" (Tennyson)
- Afghan Dawg’s "The Team Less Jorted" (Robert Frost)
- hailtogeorgia’s "Where The Yardlines End" (Shel Silverstein)
- Cherokee’s Grip’s "A DGD’s Pilgrimage" (Chaucer)
- UGAVike’s "Richt Channels Shakespeare in Pregame Speech" (Henry V)
- RedCrake’s "Hate Week Invades the Visual Arts" (Kurt Vonnegut)
May the best artistic expression of support for the Georgia Bulldogs and contempt for the Florida Gators win!
Go ‘Dawgs!

Did someone actually declare a poetry slam this week?
Or did we just pick up it up and start running with it? Either way, it’s been awesome.
Of course, this means that if we win this will have to become an annual affair.
Leaving insightful football commentary and analysis to other people since 2006.
That's the best way all traditions start
You just got to let things happen and go with the flow dawgio

Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win.

The winner receives the satisfaction of a job well done...
…and the loser gets executed at dawn.
My God, he's a freshman!
The last four words of this post are
“the Florida Gators win!”
Is that an omen?
My God, he's a freshman!
Actually
the last 2 words of the post are Go Dawgs. So we are in the clear.

I would also like to point out an honorable mention to Orson from ESDBS
The whole diatribe with fellow Dawg-blogger Doug Gillete, is a pretty funny slam contest trying to see which one can make their team sound the worst.
At the end Orson writes dubs a Ke$ha song talking about Justin Houston and the woeful UF offense. Its not a high form of art by any means, but its pretty stinking hilarious.

Wow. # 5 out of 8. That's pretty good... if it's where my daughter's T-Ball team finished the season.
Basically, I’m like the Kentucky of DawgNation. I guess it’s better than being the Vanderbilt.
This would make an excellent annual tradition… or weekly column… hmmmmm. We could have an actual prize, perhaps.

Hey...
There’s nothing wrong with being Vanderbilt! :-)

I apologize Redcrake...
Although it appears I’m down to Tennessee status.
