Just after Alabama wins the NC and the fact that our DC search is well past a month, we see a whole lot of drama from other parts of the college football world, some that could make an impact on our season this fall, some may not. Here are some of the news reports that have happened during the past several hours.
Arkansas:
QB Ryan Mallett is staying for one more year to bypass the NFL. He looks more like a NFL caliber type of player than a college one, so we'll see how it shapes out. Somehow, our game with them in Athens this year got a little harder with some of our secondary leaving for the NFL. It's nothing that a good DC can't do, so hopefully, we will be able to stop their supposedly high scoring offense.
Georgia Tech:
What in the heck is going on with all the DC firings? UGA's DC firing was legitimate but GT? I thought GT played fine defense knowing they won the ACC. This is pretty much the most bogus thing I've heard so far today. You fire your DC even though you won your league championship. Good news for us dawg fans is that their star WR is heading to the NFL.
South Florida:
Jim Leavitt is fired because of an allegation that he abused some of his players in a few games this fall.
Just wandering what you guys think about the recent news so far. I'm sure the biggest news will be the hiring of our defensive coordinator which will happen very soon.
