Warning....Warning... College Signing Day Coverage Imminent
It has become a tradition of mine over the last four years to take a personal day the first Wednesday of February and follow the National Signing Day coverage. Sad, I know.
Hi....I'm RedCrake.... I don't live in my parents basement, but I might as well....
So this year, I thought it might be fun to share my pathetic obsession with college football with all of you.
Though I realize tthe blogosphere is not intended to provide breaking news.... I hope to do so.
To wit, in my Georgia themed media room, I have the following setup:
TV 1: Tuned to ESPNU
TV 2: Tuned to CBS College Sports
Computer 1: Dedicated commenting
Computer 2: Rivals.com
Computer 3: Scouts.com
I am hoping to provide a regularly updated list of the signings as well as "insightful" commentary on players who listed Georgia as an option (whether they sign or not).
Though I realize that I don't know any more than you do, I'm assuming you have more of a life than I do so I'd like to try to provide you with a one stop outlet for your National Signing Day needs.
Feel free to mock me in the comments...

of course, i am flying that day - so all the better to get your snap shots. i look forward to it.
This isnt new. Like WAY not new as of ten years ago, but i follow recruits more than TKK. But probably not as much as as MD. I think recruiting is important, but not more important than coaching and the program. Above average recruits with stelllar coaching can win the big show. Stellar athletes with average coaching will not. I follow recruiting losely because it gives me an idea of who will play, who will start, and who will get red shirted for the following fall. But where Kyle and I agree is that, I dont hang my hat on this recruit or that.
Redcrake – tear it up. I bet Kyle may even do a signing day live thread…………..(hint!) the only other thing going on that day is the Fox Hounds embarrassing themselves.
"I look forward to developing an aggressive, physical, attacking style defense that offenses will not look forward to playing against." - Coach Grantham
Re: Signing Day Open Comment Thread . . .
already in the works my friend, along with recruiting coverage tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday. I’ll also be doing an appearance o John Frary’s evening show on ESPN 1420 on Thursday evening, then following up through the week with some post-Signing Day thoughts on the class.
I’m just glad I haven’t been working on that stuff only to find out that no one was interested. It’s ok RedCrake. Let your recruitnik flag fly.
That actually works better anyway....
That way I can use the fanpost for my “legitimate” commentary and bring my comedic stylings to the official thread.
"I Run This State." - Washaun Ealey and Caleb King
Oh, and before I forget . . .
Georgia is having its first “Junior Day” for the class of 2011 this week and already picked up a commitment from Tucker safety Chris Sanders. Georgia already offered two of Sanders teammates, including James Vaughters, a linebacker who should be one of the top 5 players in the state for 2011. Sanders laso had offers from West Virginia, Vandy, USF and Southern Miss.
Also, Mark Richt was in Hawkinsville last night for the basketball game between Hawkinsville and Wilcox County to watch WilCo qb Nick Marshall in action. Marshall put up 17 points, and Coach Richt worked the crowd a little. Marshall may actually be almost as good a basketball prospect as a football player.
Again, back with more later.
I really don't follow recruiting too closely...
… so all I can knowledgeably say is that what I want for my birthday (which is Wednesday) is a recruiting class packed with kids that will fill the holes we currently have on defense and help reload the program for the days when A.J. Green, Orson Charles, Washaun Ealey, Bacarri Rambo and other great Georgia Bulldogs leave for greener pastures.
