Georgia Bulldogs at Florida Gators Game Night Basketball Open Comment Thread

Georgia Bulldogs at Florida Gators, Jan 27, 2010 7:00 PM EST

You know the drill, and you know the consequences: Mark Fox's Georgia Bulldogs head into Gainesville with a chance to prove that last weekend's triumph over Bruce Pearl's Tennessee Volunteers was no fluke. Can the Fox Hounds sustain the momentum in a key conference game on the road against Billy Donovan's Florida Gators? My head says "no" but my heart says "boy, I sure hope so" . . . and Paul Westerdawg says this is the third-toughest of the Hoop Dogs' remaining games.

Join in the conversation in the comments below as you root, root, root for the road team.

GO DAWGS!

Is the game on TV? I’m gonna be home asap and staying there for a couple days – nasty winter weather coming to Tulsa tonight.

Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast – a regional thing, so not sure if it reaches that far west.

no such animal here in the greater metro tulsa area

i’m gonna be SOL for watching the game, unless espn360 which is powered by windstream is available to windstream customers even though their list says it’s not.

Really,

I am a windstream customer and it appears that ESPN360 is available to me. I think? Guess we’ll find out at 7pm(EST, that is podunk) I guess. Hopefully will be watching and GO DAWGS!

I'm on Windstream and I do have ESPN360

There was a press release in October saying they would carry it.

Seeing that several Hoop Dawg games would only be available on 360, I invested in a Mac to HDMI cord and it was honestly one of the best investments I’ve ever made. Even at internet video quality levels (which are pretty outstanding on 360) it looks amazing on the 50".

AHA!

YAY – tho i still loathe Windstream.

Beat Florida.

I am deeply excited about this game. We have put the fear of God into every SEC opponent we’ve played, and I trust we can do the same (at the very least) tonight. Hoping for a few more highlight-reel dunks out of Leslie and some good three-point shooting from McPhee. Go Dawgs!

I’ll be praying for a justin.tv live feed or something like that, as I can’t get CSS.

I Hate Florida

Billy Donovan leaves then comes back. Urban Meyer says he’s retiring, no … Taking a leave of absence, no… Still coaching full time. St. Tebow plays like crap at the Senior Bowl practices then it magically comes out in the media that he has a strep throat. Joakim Noah has a ridiculous haircut.

Everything about Florida screams “Somebody please beat the crap out of us.” If it has to happen, it should be us.

Ok ...

I was about to blame the poor play so far on my inability to single handedly root the team on to victory.

Can't let the home crowd get into this

we don’t need to be giving up big shots like that.

And our rebounding sucks right now, and we can’t win if we don’t out-rebound the Gators.

by georgiadawg85 on Jan 27, 2010 7:24 PM EST reply actions

So what is Florida this year? Like a #26-50 team? Don’t recall them being in top 25.

by JoeinSavannah on Jan 27, 2010 7:29 PM EST reply actions

and that...

is how you get yourself beat. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

by georgiadawg85 on Jan 27, 2010 7:31 PM EST reply actions

Georgia seems to go through short streches like that each game. Fox seems to get their focus back and they tend not to let things get too out of control.

by JoeinSavannah on Jan 27, 2010 7:35 PM EST up reply actions

It's funny,

I just read something that David Hale had written making fun of folks who use the word “seems” in every sentence.

by JoeinSavannah on Jan 27, 2010 7:36 PM EST up reply actions

I think if we can get to the half down by 4 or less...

We have a shot… I am thinking Fox needs an extended period of time to go over points of emphasis and some schematic changes.

There’s only so much you can do during a timeout

I don't know if I can watch the 2nd half

I really can’t stomach another bad loss to f’ing Florida.

by georgiadawg85 on Jan 27, 2010 7:49 PM EST reply actions

Too many issues

Not challenging Chandler Parsons on the offensive glass AT ALL, not rebounding well, crumbling under the press, not taking care of the ball….. if they don’t get their shit together before the 2nd half, it’s going to get ugly.

My worst Christmas ever...

1996 – I asked my grandmother for a Sonic Youth CD.

On Christmas morning I opened a brand spanking new copy of Electric Youth by Debbie Gibson

My brother-in-law once was on hand at a record store for a similar mix-up

Just as REM was reaching stardom, he heard two older women talking, one of whom was telling the other that her grandson wanted a CD by “R-E-something.” The other woman steered her toward REO Speedwagon.

Florida is to UGA as UGA is to Gtu

don’t know why, or what deal with the devil those down in Gainesville made in 1990, but it is so, so frustrating that we always get them playing way over their heads. I know how the nerds feel about us. It is just about the exact same thing.

by Fred Pen on Jan 27, 2010 8:22 PM EST reply actions

Except when we play Tech...

We aren’t really playing above our heads that much.

UGA v. FLA — generally UGA underachieves and Florida overachieves. Result: Blowout

Tech v. UGA — generally Tech overachieves and UGA underachieves. Result: we win by 14.

Or were you just talking about basketball?

The gayturds don’t need the refs help, but they are getting it. Count how many fouls the gators are getting when they go to the basket compared to us.

i am now officially done with the fox hounds

beating tech, close with UK, beating UT made me think something was possible. its no longer worth the pain.

we are getting slaughtered

if there is any goodnes, Coach Fox is very not happy. He is dismayed in fact - and I dont think it will sit well with him.

Yeah, but projecting abject suckitude is at the other extreme

If you predict 7-5 every year, you probably won’t miss it by much in either direction, but a total implosion is only slightly less unlikely than perfection. Give me a little credit for my complete lack of faith!

Disappointing.

I had to turn it off. Don’t need to see another Florida blowout win. For whatever reason the team just doesn’t look as prepared tonight as they’ve looked in the past couple of weeks.
