Diamond Dogs Get Two Shots to Take Down L.S.U.
Four teams were in action in Hoover during the Diamond Dogs’ day off on Friday. Seventh-seeded Arkansas bumped off second-seeded Florida for the second time in three days to bounce the Gators from the tournament, but No. 5 South Carolina could not pull off the upset over No. 1 L.S.U.
Consequently, Georgia will take on Louisiana State at 2:30 on Saturday afternoon. The Red and Black will have two chances to take down the tourney’s top-seeded team---a Bulldog loss in the early afternoon would set up a rematch circa 9:30 that night---and, if David Perno’s club manages to prevail over the Bayou Bengals once (Alex McRee, paging Alex McRee . . .), the Diamond Dogs will advance to a winner-take-all Sunday date with either Arkansas or Vanderbilt.
The Commodores and the Razorbacks are the only two teams in the tournament seeded lower than Georgia.

Just finished listening to it on the radio...
… and we went 0 for 2. Though, if you take the broadcaster’s word for it, a crime upon all humanity was committed by allowing the first game to start at all. (I’m sure his opinion would not have changed at all if Georgia were the team that scored 7 runs in 2/3 of an inning before a mercy rule break rain delay was called.)
Let’s just hope we’ve done enough, and don’t need to root for LSU to down the ’Dores to preserve our spot in the NCAA tourney.
I think everyone who made the SECT will make the NCAAT
You guys and Vandy were the only two question marks, and good showings by both make you both safe.

Ironic quote from Bobby Cox last night
"That was scary there," manager Bobby Cox said of the last outs of the Braves’ fourth win in five games. "[Soriano] showed me something. That’s hard to do in the rain, on a muddy mound, just to throw strikes."
There was no question that UGA was going to make the SEC Tourney, however, there was a chance, that by winning the tourney that UGA could be awarded a Regional Host site. That is where the SEC really screwed up by screwing UGA yesterday. Not saying the Dawgs would have won the first game, but they should have at least been given a fair shot.
If the Dawgs had won the tourney and gotten to host, it would have been more revenue for an SEC institution. LSU already has a Super Regional host spot lined up and nothing to play for in the SEC Tourney. All that yesterday’s 1st inning did was give them an excuse to play to win.
