Will Dawgs Give Up 1000?
I follow women's basketball only sporadically, but did see that Pat Summit failed to get win #1000 at Oklahoma tonight. That means her next shot is at home, on Thursday, against Georgia.
Over at GSB, Paul Westerdawg has a good post alluding to the brilliant career Andy Landers would have had if not for Summit's virtual ownership of Georgia over the decades. It would be painfully fitting if he had to give up #1000 to her.
Maybe he'll pull off the upset as a late gesture of defiance. Sure would spoil a big party at Thompson-Boling, eh?

The Answer....
…is “yes,” since the Lady Dawgs are down 22 with about four minutes left.
I hate this for Landers and for the Georgia program, but can’t really begrudge Summitt her landmark.
I'm glad the milestone is reached
because we play UT next, and this is the first year ever that UF has been relevant.
It just seems apropos
The biggest obstacle between Andy Landers being Pat Summit was Ms. Summit herself. As PWD posted, their career arcs are eerily similar except Summit has the national glory because Landers hasn’t been able to get by her. To me, it just seemed right that one of Summit’s crowning achievements happened against Coach Landers.

Landers was a class act at TBA last night.
I was at the game, and he and the Lady Bulldogs were terrific ambassadors for your school that evening.
He has several years left in him, if he wishes. Who knows? Perhaps he’s the next one to break the 4-digit milestone. It’s probably 8-10 years away, but it’s not unreachable for him. I certainly like his odds better than anybody else at the moment.
