Defensive Coordinator salaries.

Does anyone have a list of salaries currently being paid to DC's in the SEC? A VERY cursory search on google shows that Willie got $235,000 in 2007 or 2008 plus "bonuses" depending on bowl game; an article in 2008 shows Smart got a raise to $325,000 for 2009 and Strong was getting $310,000 according to the Orlando Sentinel either this year or last. Somebody better get off his pocketbook, methinks.

$325,000 for 2009, Smart was up to $360,000, I believe. The going rate for experienced, top shelf DC’s seems to be between $400,00 and $500,000. In other words, don’t expect the folks at the Athletic Association to stop accepting your cards and letters of support.

For me one “nightmare scenario” coming out of this search is for us to hire the linebackers coach from Paducah Community College and give the impression that we weren’t willing to shell out championship level cash for championship level coaching. The other is that we shell out championship level cash and still give up 27 points per game. But I’m just pessimistic that way.
