Georgia Bulldogs v. Texas A&M Aggies Independence Bowl Game Day Open Comment Thread

Texas A&M Aggies at Georgia Bulldogs, Dec 28, 2009 5:00 PM EST

We won't know until after 5:00 p.m. today whether the Bulldogs or the Aggies are the more motivated team, but I'm leaving the office a little early to make it home by kickoff, tankertoad is in the stands with his iPhone, podunkdawg is standing by to bake all the brownies we need, and DavetheDawg has a refrigerator full of butter, so it sounds to me like the fans in Bulldog Nation are ready. Let's get our game day open comment thread faces on, people. It'll be a while before we get to do this again, so let's make it count.

Go 'Dawgs!

I'm dreading this game....

I hope we play well, but this game has embarrassment written all over it.

I am afraid that the focus might be lacking,

BUT it is the last game of the year and I am super excited to watch it. Go Dawgs! Over/Under on AJ’s catches at 5.

I'm so nervous and jittery that

I’m flinching at every sound…one of these days I will have a heartattack during a game, I’m convinced of it!!! But, it’s the games I feel so confident about that we play like crap. So, maybe this is a good omen.
If we drive it down their throats on the first drive, look like the greatest team ever, then have to settle for a field goal…which we miss…I’m turning it off. I’d hate to see our record when that happens!!!
Maybe by 7 or 8pm Mr Munson will be calling outload…“LOOK AT THE WEEDEATERS FALLING FROM THE SKY!!!” (or whatever Advocare 100) is.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!! SIC EM!!!! WOOF WOOF WOOF!!!!!

Not really "cheering" per say

More just to watch & talk football, and at least I know Georgia knows how to play the game, unlike those Big 12 people ;-) — I’d prefer a Georgia win, I suppose, but don’t expect me heartbroken either way.

If we don’t shape up on offense, this game is going to get ugly.

We got lucky and returned the kickoff for a TD, but the Defense is going to get tired late in the game and we’re going to get our heads beaten in if the offense can’t sustain some longer drives.

Thank God it is halftime...

I think Erk Russell could have kicked Clint Eastwood and John Wayne's butts with a corn cob and one hand tied behind his back. GATA!

1st half summary

Overall summary

Offense.
Joe Cox, and Vince Vance are the reason why there is no offense

Defense.
Overall I feel it’s a better showing, a little pressure on the QB, and the secondary altough giving up some plays somewhat look like there in position. Rennie Curran needs to sit the rest of the game, he has already checked out !!

Special Teams.
Thank God for Special Teams, the only reason why we are in this !!

Questions about the Mike Leach scandal...

What are the chances that the Dread Pirate Leach put Craig James’ kid in a closet in hopes that he’d reveal the location of a secret treasure map?

Now that you mention it...

Leach does look an awful lot like a chubbier Jerry Orbach.

What I learned in the first half

we need Tankertoad & his pessimism on the board.

(I already knew how much we suck)

Hah

I learned that special teams work so much better without the Jon Fabris Challenge.

More Cowbell Please

Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win.

Hale makes an interesting point

The three guys that came up big on the return and punt block; Cuff, Rambo, and Boykin; all were the guys running stairs after arriving late to the first team meeting in Shreveport.

Wow

I did not expect 14-7 UGA when I left with Texas A&M on the 15. Well done, Georgia Special Teams.

Atkins was a beast on that rush

He bull-rushed the heck out of that guard.

D?

Maybe our D is still in the locker room… Someone should go get them.

Not good at all...

I think Erk Russell could have kicked Clint Eastwood and John Wayne's butts with a corn cob and one hand tied behind his back. GATA!

Through the miracle of DVR's...

…I have now caught-up to halftime and can opine profusely from this point forward. Some alternative observations:

1) We don’t miss any of the D coaches. We are doing far better than Muschamp’s Texas D did against these Aggies and their QB. Richt + Garner > Muschamp

2) Bobo lacks sufficient imagination for a lackluster bowl game. Dig deeper in that playbook!

3) Cox is no 6’1" and Vance is wide-asleep thus far.

4) We got some special players a-coming next season!

5) Russ is awesome and should bleach his ear to qualify for UGA VIII

If Joe Cox and the not ready for the second half players don't step up

we are in for a texas sized ass whipping. No doubt about it.

Well...

I hope we’re able to figure out our offense. I don’t expect our D to do much after that dismal display.

Our offensive line is sucking donkey balls right now

That rush was 3 yards deep before Cox handed it off.
