Georgia Bulldogs v. Texas A&M Aggies Independence Bowl Game Day Open Comment Thread
Texas A&M Aggies at Georgia Bulldogs, Dec 28, 2009 5:00 PM EST
We won't know until after 5:00 p.m. today whether the Bulldogs or the Aggies are the more motivated team, but I'm leaving the office a little early to make it home by kickoff, tankertoad is in the stands with his iPhone, podunkdawg is standing by to bake all the brownies we need, and DavetheDawg has a refrigerator full of butter, so it sounds to me like the fans in Bulldog Nation are ready. Let's get our game day open comment thread faces on, people. It'll be a while before we get to do this again, so let's make it count.

I'm dreading this game....
I hope we play well, but this game has embarrassment written all over it.
I am afraid that the focus might be lacking,
BUT it is the last game of the year and I am super excited to watch it. Go Dawgs! Over/Under on AJ’s catches at 5.

I'm so nervous and jittery that
I’m flinching at every sound…one of these days I will have a heartattack during a game, I’m convinced of it!!! But, it’s the games I feel so confident about that we play like crap. So, maybe this is a good omen.
If we drive it down their throats on the first drive, look like the greatest team ever, then have to settle for a field goal…which we miss…I’m turning it off. I’d hate to see our record when that happens!!!
Maybe by 7 or 8pm Mr Munson will be calling outload…“LOOK AT THE WEEDEATERS FALLING FROM THE SKY!!!” (or whatever Advocare 100) is.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!! SIC EM!!!! WOOF WOOF WOOF!!!!!
Look at the multivitamins falling from the sky… look at the multivitamins faaalling from the sky!!
I’m still waiting for the day when they rename the game in New Orleans the Splenda Bowl.

Not really "cheering" per say
More just to watch & talk football, and at least I know Georgia knows how to play the game, unlike those Big 12 people ;-) — I’d prefer a Georgia win, I suppose, but don’t expect me heartbroken either way.

One good thing, our penalities have been cut way down thus far today....
" If you're going to be accused of something, being accused of being a nice guy is not the worst thing to be accused of."
Mark Richt (November 3, 2009)
Did the announcer
just suggest aTm go for it with 4 & 15? Or am I hearing things?

wow i really thought my mind was making that one up
"Never refuse to do a kindness unless the act would work great injury to yourself, and never refuse to take a drink- under any circumstances." Mark Twain
yea go for it on 4th and 15 in the second qtr
brilliant idea ESPN
Terrence Cody drinks your milkshake!
So we have idiotic comments from the announcers
check
"Never refuse to do a kindness unless the act would work great injury to yourself, and never refuse to take a drink- under any circumstances." Mark Twain
So...
Who else is eagerly anticipating the Joe Kines halftime interview? I could use some “yar-yar” today.
http://hobnailboot.wordpress.com/
WTF happened to our line?
Seriously did they forget how to block between the Tech game and today?
Must have, it is not looking good so far...
I think Erk Russell could have kicked Clint Eastwood and John Wayne's butts with a corn cob and one hand tied behind his back. GATA!

Other than the INT, which was pressure
Cox has played pretty well.
Tennessee Fans: We win at teh Internet!
Does anyone else's heart sink..
…when you see Cox in the shotgun on 3rd and long? Scares the crap out of me every time.

I wonder how TankerToad is doing.
I hope there will be a good result for freezing his tail off evening.

TANKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would try to take up the negativity but...
I am nowhere near as good as him, and I am sure I would screw it up.
I think Erk Russell could have kicked Clint Eastwood and John Wayne's butts with a corn cob and one hand tied behind his back. GATA!
I don't see many UGA fans in the crowd to suffer along with him.....

Well
Cox looks more horrible to me in person than I already thought. UGA looks dead. Pray for a 0-0 half.

I think so
It’s definitely convincing me to leave the no fun city limits of Atlanta for the exciting nightlife that Shreveport has to offer.

There's the Georgia pass rush I remember under Willie M.
Decent coverage, but DBs lose it after QB has 30 seconds to look downfield.
http://hobnailboot.wordpress.com/
Geez, he should have been sacked

I mean it was a hell of a catch, but...
let’s say that I’m not going to be upset when it’s someone other than Miller and Evans getting burned next year.

Don't worry
If we ever get in the red zone, its coming.

What a catch in double coverage :(

Not just the scheme
We dont have playmakers on D. No one wants to go up and try to make the tackle, INT, etc. I hope that changes when we bring in Ogletree
What amazes me...
Is that Joe Kines sucked so bad as our DC and yet has managed to shut out our Offense for almost an entire half
We suck again!

Wow
A call not against the people in silver britches
Boykin
My cousin went to high school (Fayette County High) with him. Long before he went to UGA, my cousin said Boykin would be a difference maker.
Goes without saying at this point he’s been something special already, eh? Nice response to the defense (or lack thereof) so far.
"Ryan, under center. Single receiver set, time on his side. Ryan, gonna throw. First professional pass.....CAUGHT!! Jenkins! 30! 25! 20! 15! 10! 5! He lives in Atlanta!!!" -Wes Durham
Why is it that Florida and Auburn have nice commercials?
And our commercial looks like it was produced by a high school AV squad?
http://hobnailboot.wordpress.com/
That TD by aTm is just the beginning.
If we don’t shape up on offense, this game is going to get ugly.
We got lucky and returned the kickoff for a TD, but the Defense is going to get tired late in the game and we’re going to get our heads beaten in if the offense can’t sustain some longer drives.
Special Teams? We have special teams?

That's just not fair
If Banks is hurt again. That kid has just been fed a fistful of unfair in his career with respect to injuries.
http://hobnailboot.wordpress.com/
I do... not... believe it.
You gotta love Rambo… the ball finally bounced our way again!
I think all this scoring has opened the game up, though… our offense will need to get their @$$es in gear or we’ll still get mutilated.
If the Georgia bulldogs suck more than your vaccum cleaner
you need to buy ours.
"Never refuse to do a kindness unless the act would work great injury to yourself, and never refuse to take a drink- under any circumstances." Mark Twain
Nice.
We’re ahead at halftime, but I’d say we’re in big trouble in the second half unless the offense starts to get a LOT better.

Is it just me
Or was anyone else waiting for Warren Sapp to show up in a Georgia uni and start screaming for Sherman to put on a jersey?

Thank God it is halftime...

1st half summary
Overall summary
Offense.
Joe Cox, and Vince Vance are the reason why there is no offense
Defense.
Overall I feel it’s a better showing, a little pressure on the QB, and the secondary altough giving up some plays somewhat look like there in position. Rennie Curran needs to sit the rest of the game, he has already checked out !!
Special Teams.
Thank God for Special Teams, the only reason why we are in this !!
Questions about the Mike Leach scandal...
What are the chances that the Dread Pirate Leach put Craig James’ kid in a closet in hopes that he’d reveal the location of a secret treasure map?
Were no planks available for walking?

Now that you mention it...
Leach does look an awful lot like a chubbier Jerry Orbach.

What I learned in the first half
we need Tankertoad & his pessimism on the board.

Hale makes an interesting point
The three guys that came up big on the return and punt block; Cuff, Rambo, and Boykin; all were the guys running stairs after arriving late to the first team meeting in Shreveport.

Wow
I did not expect 14-7 UGA when I left with Texas A&M on the 15. Well done, Georgia Special Teams.

Atkins was a beast on that rush
He bull-rushed the heck out of that guard.

D?
Maybe our D is still in the locker room… Someone should go get them.

Through the miracle of DVR's...
…I have now caught-up to halftime and can opine profusely from this point forward. Some alternative observations:
1) We don’t miss any of the D coaches. We are doing far better than Muschamp’s Texas D did against these Aggies and their QB. Richt + Garner > Muschamp
2) Bobo lacks sufficient imagination for a lackluster bowl game. Dig deeper in that playbook!
3) Cox is no 6’1" and Vance is wide-asleep thus far.
4) We got some special players a-coming next season!
5) Russ is awesome and should bleach his ear to qualify for UGA VIII
Run Lindsay Run!
If Joe Cox and the not ready for the second half players don't step up
we are in for a texas sized ass whipping. No doubt about it.
I think Erk Russell could have kicked Clint Eastwood and John Wayne's butts with a corn cob and one hand tied behind his back. GATA!
Well...
I hope we’re able to figure out our offense. I don’t expect our D to do much after that dismal display.
Our offensive line is sucking donkey balls right now
That rush was 3 yards deep before Cox handed it off.
