If things go according to plan and Ole Miss head to the Cotton and Georgia Tech wins the ACC championship game, I'd say it's almost a lock that Georgia will go to the Chick-fil-A Bowl. The matchup against Clemson (as the ACC's No. 2) would be a very attractive one and would sell quickly.
(Note: I've seen a handful of projections with Virginia Tech going to the CFA, but I just don't see that happening. Tech has already traveled to Atlanta twice this year -- vs. Alabama and vs. Georgia Tech. I can't see a lot of Hokie fans wanting to make a third trip.)

I'll be pulling for Tech against Clemson, if, for no other reason, it means a trip
for the Dawgs to somewhere other than Atlanta.
I just can't pull for Tech...
and need I remind you that Nashville in December is only 3 degrees warmer than Akron in December, the grass is brown, and I think the State of Tennessee has already taken in enough of our hard earned money this year.
And Shreveport is in, well, Shreveport…
and Legion Field in Birmingham is only slighly more aesthetic than Chernobyl.
I’d rather take my chances in the Dome. You could always tailgate in Marietta and then take Marta.
Bye weeks: The time to tweak your fashion sensibilities.
Juj, if you're pulling for Tech against Clemson,
it means that the Dawgs would play in Atlanta. A Clemson win would be the only way to be assured that the Dawgs would play somewhere outside of 285, because Georgia Tech would fall to #2 in the ACC and would go to CFA.

The day I root for Tech...
… will be the day they play the University of Florida. Because that’s the only team I like less.
I hate Florida.
Hear hear
At least one of them has “Georgia” in their name.

I'd prefer a 0 - 0 tie with lots of injuries in that match-up
None life threatening of course.
Run Lindsay Run!
If the Big 10+1/Big East switch I mentioned below happens...
… VT could go to the Gator to take on Northwestern or Wisconsin.
Geez, the Big 10+1 just seems like a waste now. Does anyone in any league ever want to play Northwestern or Wisconsin any more?
Back in the day (Gawd, I hate that expression),
a bowl trip was arguably a reward for the players for a job well done. Now it seems it is all about the money. I would be happier if, in a situation such as the Dawgs find themselves this year, the players were allowed to vote on where they wanted to go. Bowl trips, like the Ga Fla game, are, imo, more about the event (before and after the game) rather than the game itself. While you make valid points about some destinations, Dave, I wonder just how much the Georgia players really want to take the “journey” to Atlanta that they can make most any day after practice. In any event, they would likely want to go somewhere that an old codger like me wouldn’t. If I want to be comfortable, I can always stay home.
I hate rooting for Tech.
But I sure would enjoy a Clemson-UGA bowl game. I know, ATL sucks. But I am a lot more interested in the matchup than the location, since I will have a 2-week-old baby at the time and ain’t gonna be going.
To clarify my subject line, Clemson-UGA peach bowl would be the likely result of a Clemson loss in the World’s Smallest Outdoor Cocktail Party, right?
Clemson as ACC#2
While I agree that Clemson is the #1 team in the ACC Atlantic division, I’m not convinced that makes them the #2 ACC team. Their overall record at 8-4 is no quite as good as Virginia Tech & Miami (FL) both of whom are 9-3 and ranked higher in the BCS standings (at 11 & 17 to Clemson’s 25.) VA Tech also has a better in-conference record at 6-2 than Clemson will at 6-3 provided they lose the ACC champ game to GA Tech.
This is why I predicted UGA – VA Tech in the Peach rather than UGA-Clemson.
The problem with that prediction is
that Virginia Tech has already been to Atlanta twice this year. Additionally, there has been a substantial amount of complaining about the distance the ACC Championship loser has been falling as far as bowl games go. Because of this, I think the Chick-Fil-A bowl would take Clemson just to get the ACC people off of its back. Plus, it’s a heck of a matchup…this would be matching up a traditional rival that no longer gets to play each other in a easily reachable city where both schools have large fanbases, alumni, and where people would want to spend New Year’s.
p.s. Yes, I know many of the older fans care little for Atlanta, but honestly, it offers much more in terms of entertainment than any of the other bowl venues…and if you think that the players would rather go to Shreveport, Nashville, or Birmingham than Atlanta, think again.

Papa Bowden shakes it up
Ok, so since Bobby Bowden has decreed that, for his final game, FSU will play in Florida against West Virginia, it’s possible that they could go to the Gator Bowl (which has the Big East tie-in), which would mean that Va. Tech could drop all the way to the Champs Sports Bowl. Ouch.
Of course, if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that things aren’t always written in stone, so the Big 10+1 tie-in to the Champs Sports Bowl might be able to be exchanged with the Big East team in the Gator… and voila, you have VT in the better bowl and FSU vs. W. Virginia. This scenario also seems likely due to the fact that the Big East is switching to the Champs Sports Bowl and the Big 10+1 is switching to the Gator next year, anyway.
as we would like UGA to visit Atlanta again next year, but not for a bowl
doesnt getting the players, most of whom are returning, some time in the dome some good experience?
And Atlanta is better than all the other options, hands down. You can go play a grand in Atlanta and have just as much fun as nashville.

Apparently the CFA Bowl has already selected Tennessee as its SEC rep
Looks like it’s either Nashville or Birmingham for us.

Say it ain't so, Dave
Apparently, David Hale is now twittering that the Dawgs are headed to Shreveport.
Man, that win over Tech sure did a hell of a lot for us, didn’t it?
Also the word coming from the Memphis Commercial Appeal . . .

Who knew the UGA-Kentucky matchup was a play-in game for the Music City Bowl?
Likely opponents include Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Missouri. Sigh.
Speaking as an old Texas fan...
…I hope for our sake that we get Mizzou. A&M and OU both scare the hell out of me in a match-up for the Dawgs. We traditionally haven’t defensed uber-athletic QBs well (JJ at A&M) and OU has great wideouts and makes you tackle in space (doesn’t that thought just make you cringe?). Although, the thought of both Texas and Georgia beating either of them in the same year is deliciously delightful…
UGA v OU????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As a diehard (some say rabid) Bulldog fan living, working, shopping etc in and around Tulsa, OK, the idea of beating OU is just too delicious to even think of. Especially when you realize that OU shut out OSU 27-0 last weekend. What sacrifice must I offer in order to ensure a Bulldog victory of the Sooners???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There's something to be said . . .
. . . for the “7-5 Fallen Former Powers Having Down Years Simultaneously Bowl” between Georgia and Oklahoma, but I doubt if the Sooners would drop that far.
Go 'Dawgs!
Delicious, yes...
but scary as hell. This is a defense that held Colt McCoy, Jerrod Johnson, and Zach Robinson to a combined 26 points. It’s also maybe the only team in the country with a better DT combo that Georgia. They’re well equipped to stop the run, and I’m not sure Joe would scare them all that much. That being said…..the only team I hate more than Florida is Oklahoma.
well, i am sure, Joe would not scare them at all. In fact, he would spend most of the game running scared or on his butt.

oh, and our DBs stop their passing? lol.....LOL

whine, pout
but I wanna see the bulldogs put a serious beat down on OU if only for my own sick twisted pleasure.
Yes, Georgia should play Oklahoma
That way, we can lose to both Oklahoma and Oklahoma State in the same season.
Lovely.
I just want to go home, curl up in bed, and start sucking my thumb.

no no no no no
Georgia should BEAT OU – i’m not saying they will, I’m saying it’s what I want. Mostly because I know a particularly obnoxious OU fan and little would give me more pleasure than to have my beloved Bulldogs beat the snot out of OU.
Independence Bowl Bound
We are going to the Independence Bowl in Louisiana according to some sources especially this one http://uga.rivals.com/barrier_noentry.asp?ReturnTo=&sid=&script=content.asp&cid=1023405&fid=&tid=&mid=&rid=. This gives us another shot at going up against a Big 12 team.
whomever we play, and wherever, i just hope we Hawaii them

When will we know for sure???
I work with a bunch of Auburn fans and they started talking about the Outback Bowl earlier today. Did we not beat them? Did we not just beat the number 7 team in the nation on the road? Who the heck will we be playing in LA?
It looks like we're likely to face . . .
. . . Texas A&M.
Ironically, given the Bulldogs’ recent penchant for odd fashion choices, the Aggies are the team against whom Georgia first unveiled what is now the Red and Black’s traditional look in 1980: the Wally Butts-era silver britches, the Vince Dooley-designed red helmet with the oval “G,” and the red jerseys we had always worn.
Go 'Dawgs!
