Update: Chance Veazey Paralyzed Below Waist
At a news conference yesterday, the medical director of the rehabilitation center at which Diamond Dogs second baseman Chance Veazey has been recovering from his October 28 motor scooter accident announced that the Tifton freshman is paralyzed from the waist down.
Updates are available here and donations should be made payable to Prayers for Chance and sent to either of the following addresses:

In the midst of all our collective sadness at the loss of the Georgia mascot, we need to remember the life-changing injuries suffered by this young man, as well. He has a long road ahead of him and he needs our support along the way.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Veazey family
I’ve been aware of this prognosis for some time through some friends in south Georgia that know the Veazey family. It’s heartbreaking, but Chance will have the opportunity to continue to live a full and vibrant life due to the exceptional treatment he’s received at the Shepherd Spinal Center. It’s great to see Coach Perno and the rest of the Georgia staff and team continue to embrace him even though he’ll never play a single pitch for the Diamond Dogs now. Also, of course, he will continue to have a scholarship during his entire tenure at the University. I love having a first-class coach, program, and athletic department.
You can get more updates about Chance’s status at the following page, which was set up and is updated by his family: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/chanceveazey.
