Here's something you'll no doubt hear at some point from someone: Two of Cox's interceptions and Gray's pick led to Florida points -- 17 of them in fact. So maybe Willie Martinez can't be blamed as much, given that the D only "really" allowed 24 points.
But you know what? I can't believe Cox throws that second pick if Georgia isn't so far behind. It was third down. It was midfield. They were trailing by 14. Cox had to make a play. A punt would have effectively signaled the end of a comeback, too. And his third INT? It was a bad throw, but it was made amid a furious and utterly fruitless attempt to keep the Dawgs in the game. And Gray's pick? Well, if the D had played better, maybe Gray isn't even in the game.
So this week, the defense gets cut no slack. I'm going to say the D was responsible for the offense turning the ball over so much. If the D had done its job in the first half, the situation in the second half is completely different. No excuses for Willie this week.

I wish it were that simple.
Statistically our offense is worse ranked nationally than the defense. I’m not defending the coordinators on either side of the ball. It could be argued that the offense is not helping the defense out either. The problem is that this team has no strong area to hang its hat on. Right now unfortunately we’re a bit dodgy across the board.
That's part of Hale's point
When our offense is down by double-digits in virtually every game, you are forced to abandon your game plan and play catch-up instead. That generally doesn’t allow any team to play specifically to the strengths of their offense.
This, incidentally, is why Florida has played so poorly from behind (on the few occasions they’ve been behind or tied) over the past 2 years. With Tebow at the helm, they are a power, run-first, short-pass team. When they’re trailing in a game or otherwise need a score quickly, it’s very difficult for them. Saint Tebow does not not excel at 15+ yard passes, and although they do break long runs and long passes, it’s not often when the pressure is on and they’re trailing.

i wouldnt say a bit dodgy. I would say we suck at running. we suck at stopping the run. we suck at passing. We suck at stopping the pass. we suck at kick returns, minus a few coast to coast returns. we suck at stopping kick returns.
thats a large portion of the entire game.
And the big penalties
seem to come at times that simply deflate the Dawgs completely. How many times are we about to be in 3rd and short and all of a sudden, here comes the flag, the big personal foul flat and now we are 3rd and forever? The defense just pins it’s ears back and comes after our QB who is having to make a play. On the other side, we have a team stopped 3rd and 8, then here comes the flag. Give them a first down instead of the three and out.
I understand what CMR was talking about when he said something like “at FSU we had a lot of penalties but we didn’t lose because of them and it was from kids playing aggressively, and we want players to play aggressively”. At the same time, aggressiveness has to be tempered with the realization of what is and what isn’t “let go” by officials.
