Poll on remainder of UGA regular season.
Much has been made of the need for changing the defensive coordinator (at the very least) in order for the Dawgs to regain SEC East competitiveness and even challenge for a national championship. Assuming that change is necessary, examine your respective hearts and decide the following: Would you rather UGA lose 2 of the 3 remaining games and be virtually assured of getting rid of Willie OR win all three and be virtually assured of Willie remaining as DC?

WHOA!!!
That is such a tough decision!!! I firmly believe that a change at DC is completely necessary. No doubt about it, but, I could never sit back and hope we ever lose a game. Well, I did when they ran out onto the field in Jax just simply to put a stain on the blackness. But, that was sheer emotion and anger I haven’t felt since a few missions in Afghanistan. I digress…I hope that everyone will seek 3 straight wins by 1 point (60-59) in each game, and thus a new DC coming to The Classic City. How’s that? 3-straight wins on the final play with basketball scores, and a new hire. Whew! That was worse than leaping a fence just before a Rotweiler snaps at my but on a full run!!!
Rooting for the other team
It’s nearly impossible to do, but when you know it is best for the health of the program it can be done. I remember rooting for the Miss. State upset of Florida back in ‘04 because we just couldn’t fathom another year of Ron Zook. We lost and Zook was fired the following week. I felt just a little ashamed at the time, but I have no regrets.
Never
No, no, no. Never will I hope for a “strategic” loss by the Bulldogs in hope of bringing about some subsequent, off-field result. I do not understand how it could be a close question. That is all.
this
plus, if what has happened up until this point doesnt create change, it doesnt matter. The decision to get a new DC or not get a new DC has already been made – we just dont know what it is yet. Furthermore, we are playing teams that arent that strong anyhow.
I wouldnt be surprised to win against Auburn and get trounced by Tech – which should end someone’s coaching career, but we will know come Jan.
I do not believe those results are mutually exclusive.
I think that, even if Georgia goes 3-0 to end the season, Willie Two Thumbs is still gone. Damon Evans acknowledged as much earlier in the season. The only thing that might be able to save him now is if Georgia blanks Auburn, Kentucky, and Georgia Tech… which is so ludicrous an idea that it’s pointless to even consider it.
Call me crazy, but I think it’s nigh upon treason to actually and actively root against a team you’ve spent your life supporting. I want Georgia to go 3-0, regardless of the consequences. Now, if UGA does go 3-0 and does not make changes… there will be hell to pay. Still, though, I want to end the regular season 8-4 no matter what.
I learned the answer to this question on October 22, 1994
I had known for more than a year that Ray Goff had to be fired. One week earlier, Georgia had lost at home to Vanderbilt for the first time since 1961. The Bulldogs were involved in a shootout with Kentucky in Lexington. Although I probably was wrong about this, I thought that losses to the Commodores and the Wildcats in the same season surely would force a coaching change.
Despite that belief (which, again, probably was mistaken), I was unable to root against Georgia even when believing a Bulldog loss would be better for the long-term health of the program. I learned then that I am incapable of rooting against my team under any realistically conceivable set of circumstances.
If the Georgia Bulldogs are playing a football game, I want the Georgia Bulldogs to win that football game. Short of some wildly implausible scenario (e.g., terrorists have kidnapped your entire family and claim that they will kill your relatives unless Georgia loses its next game), I cannot conceive of rooting against the ’Dawgs, even though I understand the argument that games sometimes work out better for the losers than the winners.
Go 'Dawgs!
