TWLOCP - and why UGA is going to beat Florida (or needs too)
Hey Y'all,
I intend this to be the first of a series of posts about the upcoming Dawg - Gator throwdown in Jacksonville. Some threads will be a serious discussion about the game, and some of it will be filled with satire and humor. Just to wet your appetite, there is soon to be a roast of Tim Tebow that will be ON YOU to provide the material- and I seriously hope yall join in on that one.
For the Tenn fans out there - satire and humor means - nevermind.
So - to begin this series, I just realized Georgia MUST beat florida. It's bigger than just the cocktail party. The nation is dependent on us. I think even Penn Wagers may overlook AJ Green smiling in this game. I looked at their schedule and it seems it is on the Dawgs to dethrone this team that was pronounced champion before the season even started. Sorry Gamecocks, I wish you the best, but I can't depend on you in a pinch. Florida's schedule is so weak I think EPSN may have created it just to sound like they knew what they were talking about when they declared them champs. After the Bulldogs, the alligators face Vandy and Florida International. I am still not 100% sure Florida Int is a school, but definately not a school I am sure has a football program. Hey, florida, after Charleston and Troy, you sure you couldnt pencil in Duke to round out your season?
I mean, really, do y'all remember now? Florida was pronounced SEC champs before the season even started by everyone with a microphone, a camera, a beat, or a blog. Well, maybe not this blog. Maybe they will win it all, but it seems the University of Georgia Red and Black Bulldogs circa 1785 and you wish you were us is the lone gunslinger left to show the nation that the bigger the Gator, the more meat to eat!
GO DAWGS!

This is a very big game for Dawgnation.
If we could whip Florida, I would argue that it would be the most significant victory in the series for 25 years, maybe longer. It would rejuvinate a one-sided rivalry, it would ease the pain of the loss to Tennessee (which, in my most humble opinion, is Richt’s worst loss to date), it would derail Florida from getting to a second consecutive National Championship game and deny them from attaining something they covet: An undefeated season. It would certainly make an impression upon recruits. It would restore faith in our coaching staff (at least the ones on the offensive side of the ball). It would avenge a beatdown from a year ago and, at least for another year, end the hubris of Gator Nation.
It would cause a major shift in the earth’s alignment upon it’s axis, thus ushing in an early Spring. It could bring world peace and possibly cure the common cold. Global warming would cease, Republicans would find a new leader and Oconee county would vote to sell beer on a Sunday.
In other words, it would be very, very big. And it just might happen.

It would do many of those things . . .
. . . but it would neither derail Florida from getting to a second consecutive national championship game nor end the hubris of Gator Nation . . . nor should it.
It would be extraordinarily good for us. It wouldn’t be all that bad for them.

Ask Steve Spurrier how he feels about losing undefeated seasons b/c of the Dawgs
He seemed to think it was pretty bad for them. I’m just saying…

He lost an SEC championship because of it
Losing to Georgia wouldn’t cost Florida the Eastern Division title, which means the Gators still would have a shot at the conference crown, which means the Gators still would have a shot at the national championship.
A loss to Georgia this year would matter as much to the Gators as a loss to Florida State in 1996, a loss to Auburn in 2006, or a loss to Ole Miss in 2008.

I'll take
extraordinarily good for us. Not concerned about good or bad for them.

That's assuming...
Florida beats ‘Bama in the Dome. I don’t think that’ll happen this year. I’m thinking it’ll be Texas vs. ’Bama for all the marbles in Pasadena. Florida will probably settle for a Sugar Bowl berth.
Maybe I should have been more specific about the hubris of which I speak….the kind I have to live with in my neighborhood…which is 90% Gator, 9% Nole, and then there’s little ol’ 1% me. A victory would, at least, shut down some of the “good natured crap” I have been putting up with in my neck of south Florida. If we win next Sattidy, I’ll whip up some pita bread and hubris of my own in a hurry!

Well, at least
You’re not one of the 9% Nole fans. Be positive Dave.
We are 100% focused on the Bulldogs this week…..the Mississippi State Bulldogs that is. We’ll turn full attention to the UGA BullDawgs around 11pm Saturday night. I look forward to contributing next week.

Indeed...
that 9% has been strangely silent lately. I don’t even know if they live in the ’hood anymore.
