Dick Bumpas
Has Anyone Else noticed that TCU only gave up six points Saturday? That they are giving up less than 14 pts/gm this season? Someone in Athens needs to be giving Dick Bumpas a serious amount of consideration as our next DC. Perhaps a better measuring stick will be the game against BYU but one cannot argue with the guy's success. Does anyone else have thoughts on this issue or should we just concentrate on UF for now?

Sure...
…but will he bring the Bumpas hounds with him? Ralphie’s old man wouldn’t like that.

That comment is . . .
worth a slow clap.
insert slow clapping here
Apropo of nothing, I would also like for us to hire June Jones as a special offensive consultant, but I’m afraid we’d run and shoot our eye out.

its just a gif file. it works like pictures. just click the little picture of the tree when you post a comment, and it will ask you for the link to the picture.

Behold the power of my google-fu
It’s an easy google image search thing, and you just imbed the picture in the comment (as bravely going forward says, the icon with the tree in it). The picture itself is something called an “animated gif,” where it’s still a picture, but it’s able to contain a second or two of captured video.
Here’s another slow-clap animated gif, updated for the kids nowadays who don’t remember black and white classics like Citizen Kane:

Coaching prowess notwithstanding...
anyone named Dick Bumpas has got to carry a chip on his shoulder. And some of the shoulder’s on our current staff are in some need of some serious chips.
I’d hire him for his name alone.

Can you imagine the joyousness of a Dick Bumpas Cheer?
Dick! Dick! Dick!
Bum-pas! Bum-pas! Bum-pas!
Both would work splendidly.
Also…. “You just got Bumpased”

The possibilities are endless
Bumpas and run coverage?
Chants of “Dick-fense! Dick-fense!” (though, hopefully, not accompanying signage) in Sanford Stadium?
Pick-sixes by Bulldog defenders followed by ’70s dance craze revivals in the end zone?
Go 'Dawgs!

Our defense couldn't . . .
hold last year’s Utah squad to 13 unless they borrowed Plaxico Burress’s sweatpants and he left the gun in them. Those are pretty consistently low point totals, and I don’t think they’re giving up a lot this year either, though I haven’t looked up the numbers.

FYI . . .
I think tomorrow night’s TCU/BYU game is going to be televised here in Georgia with a 7:30 start. Might be interesting to flip over and see what Bumpas-ball looks like. I’m of course hoping that Willie Martinez’s defense throws shutouts the rest of the way. But I am, you know, just curious about how other defenses are doing . . .
