So long, Matt and Knowshon
Today has been a bummer. Actually, the entire week has. I'm sure a lot of you have had a hard time "getting back into the swing" of the 8-5 grind after the long holiday period. Now comes word that we will no longer have football 24/7. That's a pun, sort of.
Our rivals are rejoicing. The pundits are punding. The naysayers are naying. We're doomed. Joe Cox? Who is he. Caleb King? He only played a few games and was displaced by Richard Samuel...who is he? Soon to be linebacker?
Georgia Football, 2009. Flying Under The Radar. That's exactly where I want us to be.
Go Dawgs. Good luck, 24,7.

Right on all counts, Dave
While we wish these two damn good ‘Dawgs the best of luck in the pros, there’s something to be said for fewer superstars and more teamwork. We saw some great individual performances in 2008, but we never saw a team, at least not on any consistent basis. The lower profile, both in the rankings and atop the depth chart, will do us some good.
Go 'Dawgs!

The case for superstars
Yep…today is a downer in DawgNation. But not sure this “lack of leadership/teamwork taint”on our superstars is on target. if this is what is being implied. Are Tebow, Bradford, McCoy superstars or team players? Don’t we want…maybe need…a Heisman winner in the backfield? I submit that the 2008 season results were a reflection of a dramatically weakened defensive unit that had no on field leadership or game changing playmakers. We need to get more stars on that side of the ball (and a coaching crew/scheme worthy of adapting to our SEC opponents). I want the best players in the country coming to UGA where CMR has proven he can put them in the first round of the NFL draft….preferably on both sides of the ball. We may never see the combined talent of Know and Staff in our backfield again, and our schedule, injuries, and loss of key defensive players led to a season that would probably have looked OK if led by Cox and Samuel/King instead.
Knowshon and Matt have been Damn Good Dawgs and should be remembered as such with no undertones of a failure to meet expectations….they could not control these other “team” intangibles.

Looking Ahead
I am an eternal optimist. That being said, I look for great things from Joe Cox. He is a really good QB, seems to be a humble person and looks as well to be a fiery competitor. Anyone remember how the Vols fared the year AFTER Peyton Manning left?

bye guys...
…you will be sourly missed. it’s a shame that because of a bad defense, poor offensive play calling, a subpar o-line due to poor recruiting through 2004-2005, and a defensive coordinator who couldn’t coach out of a wall-less room, your efforts were squandered. You deserved so much more than a &^%#ing Citrus bowl bid. You should have been in miami tonight. instead, tebow is doing what he does best (win games), oklahoma is choking in another bcs game, and i’m pulling a doug gillett by throwing every object out my window.
I’m sorry, I’m just another one of those whining, slightly drunk georgia fans posting a blog post.
