A Truly Disturbing Datum From Wednesday's Basketball Game
MaconDawg and I have shied away from writing too much about Georgia basketball, and, gosh, can you blame us?
This, though, is a truly unnerving detail from Wednesday night's hoops loss to the hated Gators:
- Florida outscored Georgia by a 42-30 margin in the first half. In the 11-2 football season of 2007, the Bulldogs beat the Gators by a final margin of 42-30.
- Florida outscored Georgia by a 41-27 margin in the second half. In the 10-2 football season of 1976, the Bulldogs beat the Gators by a final margin of 41-27.
Really, our Gator overlords are just mocking us now. I expect the next roundball battle between the two S.E.C. East squads to end with a final score of 126-0 . . . 75-0 in the first half, in retribution for what happened in Jacksonville in 1942, and 51-0 in the second half, as revenge for the 1968 Cocktail Party.

I don't want to splash this . . .
all over the front page but I’m hearing there’s a significant chance that there may be a very significant basketball announcement today over at Butts-Mehre.
You think?
I thought that would be the top story here today, but apparently the only mention was a Fanpost by Bammer….
Yeah, by the time it started hitting the news . . .
it was no longer really “news”, if you know what I mean. I thought about doing sort of a postmortem, but there’s little I could say that wasn’t already said months ago.
Besides, in our defense, skigator93 . . .
. . . we do have jobs and all.
While we’ve been waiting for the other shoe to drop on the Felton firing for the better part of a week, the first official word (of which I was aware, at any rate) that today was the day broke during drive-time radio this morning and the press conference was at 11:00 a.m.
The fact that MaconDawg and I both had previously written postings scheduled to appear at later points during the day may have made it look like we were ignoring it, but my piece, at least, was penned prior to the news getting out about today’s dismissal. (I know that you, as a reader, don’t necessary know that, but it’s a pretty good indicator that a post was scheduled earlier if it shows up on the hour, on the half-hour, at a quarter after, or at a quarter ’til, whereas a posting that shows up at, say, 10:28 probably was written and posted in real time. Just for future reference.)
Besides, it is just basketball, after all. As a great statesman once said, only A.C.C. weenies care about hoops, right?
