Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

Was it just me . . .

or did anyone else hear Herbstreit let it slip late in the game  that he'll be in Athens next Saturday morning? That Herbie. He's like Deepthroat with highlights and a man purse.

I caught that as well..

as he was lamenting how he would have to make it back to State College (or somewhere up north) by that evening. I’m sure he’d rather be in Athens by the end of the day.

Yep

Apparently, Gameday will be at State College for the Illinois@PSU game.
No matter how much they would probably rather be doing Gamedays for SEC games, it can’t be SEC ALL the time. ;)
I was surprised to hear that, because I didn’t think they decided on that stuff until later in the week.

Oh, nevermind

I could be completely wrong. I heard a few references to being in State College from Herbie and assumed it was coming here. My bad.

Yep

I heard it too, and had the exact same thought, Dave. Also, I have to be honest. It must have been tough for the ASU folks listening to Brent and Herbie . Those guys were just gushing on and on about Curran, Stafford, Moreno, Green…even Walsh. It was fun to listen, but I guess that’s what it’s like when I have to watch a Florida game.

Fowler mentioned it too..

3 days ago in his blog

‘I had hoped to compare the Trojans to the Georgia Bulldogs this weekend after doing “College GameDay” from Tempe, but Arizona State’s collapse on Saturday night at the hands of gritty UNLV put that plan on hold. Maybe next weekend in Athens.’

They’d be crazy not to go this year, hopefully they can find somewhere better to set up than the bridge

When else?

I mean, if they don’t come this weekend, when would they come? There will be no mystery the week after, when a 1-3 Tennessee comes rolling into town. And the only other home games are Vandy and Ga. Tech (both of which are CBS options). This weekend’s game is the only ESPN pick left that’s in Athens. I think what Herbie was saying is that the ABC game of the week is Illi/Penn, because he does the announcing for those. Gameday with Folwer and Corso could very well still be in Athens.

Knowshon Loves legos . . .

I read the same thing, but discounted it as a network tease. However blackertai is right, if not next week we won’t see the Gameday crew in Athens this season. I have to believe however that if UGA and Florida continue undefeated into the Cocktail Party, we’ll be in for a Tebow lovefest in Jacksonville.

Also, I think the guy who spoke up in ESPN’s preseason planning meeting and said “I think we should exercise our option on Georgia/Alabama” should get a bonus. The WWL now has a primetime matchup of two top 10 SEC’s teams for the second week in a row.

Library?

I may be bias, because it’s where I tailgated when I went to school/still live in GA, but They should set up in the quad that contains the Library, Law Library, and Peabody buildings. The bridge is a horrible set up and clogs foot traffic which resulted unhappy fans last time and probably why they’ve taken so long to come back. The open Tate area may be good?
Figures the year after I move to NY they decide to come to Athens. I’ve seen them at Bama, SC, and Jacksonville for GA games but never in athens.

Since it's a night game,

Foot traffic on the bridge shouldn’t be too much of a problem. Tate area would be ok, but I’m not sure that the lovely backdrop of construction is going to be in their plans.

Or,

If they really wanted to be crazy they could set up in the cemetary. Maybe they should save that one for when Top 10 undefeated Vanderbilt comes to town since it will be closer to Halloween.

Unhappy

They’ll have some unhappy tailgaters if they kick them out of the cemetery to set up.
I almost forgot about Tate 2.
True about the bridge, the morning hours of gameday will be less busy because some people coming from out of town during that time… however, at games end… good Lord.

Also, they’d want to set up with Sanford in the background, but you’d get no shots of fans, seems very ungamedayish

Location

The University has offered the Myers and Reed quads as possible sites. Myers is a probably a little bit more picturesque, but Reed is closer to the stadium.

Per AJC: Coach Richt has asked that fans wear black to the game vs. Alabama! Dawgs will wear black jerseys as well! GO DAWGS!

Gameday absence

I can’t believe that it’s been a decade sine Gameday last visited Athens? What are they thinking? Beautiful campus, gorgeous coeds, decent football team (kidding)…..seriously though, I was really shocked to learn that Gameday has not frequented Athens more.

by skigator93 on Sep 22, 2008 3:24 PM EDT reply actions

Because...

apparently Fowler doesn’t enjoy having bottles thrown at him.

by AcworthDawg on Sep 22, 2008 4:14 PM EDT up reply actions

bottles?

Was there an incident last time Gameday visited Athens?
