Sturdivant Injured? NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
This is my first post on SB nation, and I would like to say that I have been enjoying the insightful and often hilarious commentary here on Dawg Sports for a few months. Now to the horrible news. . .
Starting left tackle Trinton Sturdivant suffered a knee injury during Monday evenng's scrimmage and might miss the entire season. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
With the obvious importance each player on the offensive line has in helping this team navigate their difficult schedule and gain a berth in the SECCG, we can least afford to lose Sturdivant. He has seniority (he is a sophmore after all {I would lol but currently can muster no joy}), started all 13 gamed last season, and is a mean mutha who protects Stafford's blind side. With the loss of him, and Southerland's early absence, I am worried about the offense. With coach Searels already shifting players to new positions on the line, what will this line end up looking like, and how good can they really be? I am guessing pretty darned good, but how long will it take for them to gel? We can't afford to have a so-so line for the first six games of the season. I just think this is devastating, and might be venting a wee bit. If anyone knows more about who will step up, and can share some positive message of peace about them please let me know.

I blame the Sports Illustrated cover jinx
No two ways about it, this is bad news.
The only way to sugar-coat it--and this is most unsatisfactory—is to note that, last year, the loss of Paul Oliver seemed similarly severe, yet it wound up not being that bad.
That’s cold comfort, I know.

Its official
Out for the year. For some reason, this isn’t worrying me as much as it should. Yes, Sturdivant had a great season, but our offensive line is still in better shape than it was at this point last season. Something tells me that Kiante Tripp is going to get a good, long look at stepping into the left tackle position. No matter who it is, the line will once again have to do a lot of growing up very quickly, hopefully before the South Carolina game. Either way, I have total faith in Coach Searles to make the offensive line work.

Time to reload
Thanks for the messages of peace TKK and SG! You both may very well be right. Coach Searleswill make the proper adjustments, and hopefully these guys can develope into a cohesive unit quickly. But seriously, what a loss! You really just have to feel awful for Trinton and the level of disappointment he must be feeling right now.

Agreed
I feel much worse for Sturdivant than for the team. This is a real loss for the Bulldogs, to be sure, but this is genuinely sad for the young man, who undoubtedly is in a lot of anguish, physically and emotionally, over this injury.
Keep Trinton and his family in your prayers.

yeah, this one will hurt
I just hope the Dawgs can get through the first couple games without a blemish. Those first few set the tone for the entire season, and with the loss of Sturdivant, and the suspensions, they need to be careful about letting the guard down. I know it’s Georgia Southern, but be careful.
At least Boling will only be out one game.
