College World Series Game Three Open Comment Thread
Welcome back to your College World Series open comment thread, Bulldog Nation!

After a day’s delay, the Diamond Dogs are facing off with the Stanford Cardinal in a rematch of Monday night’s contest. The game is slated to get underway at 2:00 this afternoon on ESPN.
After the fun we had during Monday night’s open thread, I know I don’t have to tell you to share your observations, exhortations, witticisms, and other reactions (as applicable) in the comments below, so have at it.

It's on . . .
. . . ESPN.
By which I mean, the actual ESPN, not ESPN2, ESPNews, etc.

At least they went three up . . .
. . . and three down in the bottom of the inning.

Come on, Bryce!
Also, can we see Lauren during his at-bat?

Drat . . .
. . . on the first count.
At least we got to see Lauren briefly.

Cerione's at-bat
Huh.
I wasn’t aware that home plate ended at the chalk line.
I guess I’d always thought the edge of the plate was, you know, the edge of the plate.
Terrible strike three call.

It'd be nice
to get some more right here with the bottom of the order….we’ve been living on these guys lately

Come on, come on, ESPN, give me something with which to work ...
Ok, I give up. It’s getting late in the game for my ESPN jab, and their kind words about Massanari’s grandmother might cancel it out, anyway.

Another question
...anyone got a stab on why we’re the visiting team and we’re in the winners bracket???
by SouthernDawg on Jun 21, 2008 2:37 PM EDT 0 recs
My vote is that we get everybody on the team . . .
. . . to smear their helmet with too much pine tar.
To answer your question, SouthernDawg, it’s so we will reserve the right to be the home team tomorrow if another game is needed.
I don’t buy that logic, but that’s the rationale.

ok....
i guess i understand that…kinda like the same idea of going with Moreau instead of Holder today

Pine tar
I thought about getting a dedicated cap and some pine tar myself, but at my place, it’d get covered in dog and cat hair in seconds.

Pitching pretty well
Seems to be doing well, but doesn’t seem to be able to locate a curve…does it seem that way to you all? Whew….foul thank goodness!
by Russell4u2 on Jun 21, 2008 2:47 PM EDT 0 recs
whew
he sure is leaving a lot of pitches up today
by SouthernDawg on Jun 21, 2008 2:47 PM EDT 0 recs
We got lucky . . .
. . . on that foul ball.
It just missed being a three-run shot.
I mean, it didn’t just miss like Massanari’s just missed the other night, but still.

Defensive hitting...
I would have called that at-bat as good defensive hitting being down 0-2, but he jumped all over that!

I wish
they would stop jinxing us with how great our bullpen is
setting us up, guys…setting us up

Lucky
Cannot believe he got him to swing on that! It’s great….surprising, but great!
by Russell4u2 on Jun 21, 2008 3:22 PM EDT 0 recs
Good jump in right
He doesn’t get a good jump on that ball and it’s 4-2 possibly 4-3. Good job!

Hold 'em
If we can hold them to that 1 run… it will be a good day…
by 86Dawg on Jun 21, 2008 3:27 PM EDT 0 recs
Great!
Only 1 run out of a bases loaded, nobody out jam with their best hitter up…..I’d say that turned out just about as good as UGA could have hoped!

Hmmm
This walk of Bechkam only makes sense for them, but shouldn’t we have seen this coming and let Olson swing away? I think they just got the best of us by getting a free out and took away Beckham’s bat. I’m sure I’m missing why you would do that…can someone clue me in?

During my (brief) moments of being productive,
Georgia scores. Gonna continue filing papers
by JoeinSavannah on Jun 21, 2008 3:41 PM EDT 0 recs
Joe, you are a damn good Dawg!
Even more than I loved holding them to one run when they had the bases loaded with no outs and Jason Castro at the plate, I loved answering with two runs in the fourth to extend what was a slightly narrowed lead.

JoeinSavannah + being productive= good
I would prefer the other way around but I better stay busy. I’ll be over to your office in the top of the 5th.

From Wikipedia
Duck Fart—-A softly hit ball that goes over the infielders and lands in the outfield for a hit. Originally called a “duck fart” because it was assumed that a duck’s feathers would make its farts as soft (or quiet) as the hit.

Well,
Orel gave a Kennedy history lesson, Erin interviewed a Cougar, Kyle almost jinxed us, and our Bullpen has been a bit shaky…but we’re hitting the ball and I’m still out of beer.
