There Is No Way This Just Happened!!!!

Friends, the Georgia Bulldogs are the SEC Tournament Champions, and there are going to be SEC Champion t-shirts and hats in the UGA Bookstore and other places tomorrow morning.  Let that sink in for a minute or two and try not to laugh....... see you can't do it.  I watched the game from start to finish and there are no words to describe the utter joy I feel at this moment.  When the last second ticked off, I began shrieking at the top of my voice, hugged my best friend and my campus minister, and proceeded to run out of the room stripping off my lucky shirt and cap in classic European soccer style proclaiming our sudden and inexplicable superiority to all that would here me.

What our team has just accomplished is more than extraordinary, its unprecedented!!!  We won four games in three days, played the championship game on our arch-rival's home court in front of 1,000 people, and did this with a nine man roster!!  I know there have been a lot of  people hounding Dennis Felton this year, but what he has done with this team is astounding.  He squad never gave up on him, and they played their hearts out.  With a great recruiting class coming in next year, I hope that this accomplishment will energize the UGA fanbase (the alumni attendance at games is shameful), kick start this program, and make us a force to be reckoned with.

Here's to Yata Gaines and Dave Bliss on a great career here in Athens, and lets cheer them on throughout the tournament.  Its great to be relevant again.

GO DAWGS!!! TO HELL WITH XAVIER!!!!

Perhaps you're being a bit tough . . .
. . . on Xavier, but, yeah, I'm with you, it was pretty amazing to watch.

By the way, you may purchase your 2008 S.E.C. basketball championship T-shirt here.

If Dennis's Dogs can make some noise in the tourney (a subject with respect to which you may register your opinion by voting here), Georgia's status as the top overall athletics program in the Southeastern Conference will become even more secure.

Unbelievable
I mean that in the most literal sense. I cannot believe what happened this week. I have never cared about basketball as much as a do now. Ive been sitting here now for five minutes trying to type this sentence. Ive got nothing. I am speechless. Congrats to the team. I am beyond happy to know that Gaines and Bliss, two guys who stuck it out for four of the toughest years this program will ever see, will make a trip to The Dance. I am overjoyed to know that a team that went through so much and lost so many players and was lambasted up until this tournament will get to hang a banner high above the Stegman court come next opening day.

On a related note, I will be naming my firstborn child Sundiata.

yeah...
...it took me like an hour to complete the first paragraph.  i was completely stunned and flabbergasted to the point of hysteria.

by the way, i just came back from the team's return to Stegeman and i witnessed one of the great scenes in my study here at the university.  Bliss, Price, Humphrey, Swansey, Woodbury, and the rest of the gang were mobbed by some 200 barking and intoxicated students, alumni, and some guy i thought was Dan Magill (he wasn't but it was still great that he was there).  wish more people showed up, but its late and people are still probably coming in from spring break.

fun times here in Athenstown. GO DAWGS, AND MAY XAVIER LOSE BUT NOT SUFFER ETERNAL HELLFIRE!!!

You know what sucks?
When Dennis Felton's wife calls your sister-in-law an hour before the game and says she has a ticket to the SEC Basketball Championship game for you.
-Actually, that's not the sucky part.

The sucky part is where you get to your seat one row behind Mrs. Felton, and she asks you if you know anyone else that would like to come to the game 30 minutes before tipoff....and you can't get your internet to work on your stupid piece of crap Blackberry....and so you call your friends in Atlanta and they come, but don't wear UGA gear b/c they have to come straight from church....and your friends comment that the guy at will-call was giving tickets to anyone in Red & Black....So you call a couple more friends, and realize that the guy at will-call has EVERY TICKET IN THE STADIUM, and is willing to hook up EVERY MEMBER OF BULLDOG NATION, but you can't email anyone and unleash the hounds! teh suck, no?

I wish you guys could've come, but I ain't got your phone numbers.

And the guy at will-call was just ignoring ticket requests from Arkansas fans....

Congratulations
Sincere congratulations on one, if not the, most amazing runs ever in the SEC Tournament.

Best of luck versus the evil Xavier Bulldogs.

Georgia ...
did something truly impressive this weekend.  I am convinced it will never, ever be surpassed in the sense of an absolute gauntlet for which the Dawgs seemed ill-prepared, but against which they proved indomitable.

Congratulations, heart-felt and deep.  That was a magnificent achievement of which Georgia fans should be justifiably proud.

Good luck in the tourney.  I'm glad we don't have to play you again this year unless it is in the Final Four, and if that happens, I will own Las Vegas and you guys will all be invited to the Presidential Suite at the Bellagio on the house.

:-)

Anybody old enough to remember '83?
Pretty good run for a team that was average until the 2nd half of the conference schedule.  Difference between then and now is the momentum that began to build prior to the SEC Tourney (in '83).

A hot team is a dangerous thing.  If we can keep the score in the 60s against Xavier, I think we will prevail.  And after that, we could meet either Baylor or Purdue.  I'm hoping it's Baylor because you just know they are dreading dealing with another Dave Bliss!
