Stacy Searels Is Staying
While this isn’t exactly breaking news to anyone, it is well worth repeating: Stacy Searels is staying at Georgia.
The best line from Mark Richt’s announcement of the good news was: "You always want to let people know how you feel about them. We let him know."
If the cost of my season tickets has to go up in order to keep Coach Searels happy and in Athens, the extra money is well worth it. Now if only Auburn would hire Willie Martinez away from us, all would be right with the world. . . .
Merry Christmas, Coach Searels. Bulldog Nation, you may now resume mocking Gene Chizik in earnest.
Go ‘Dawgs!

That would be perfection:
Head coach Gene Chizik + offensive coordinator Patrick Nix + defensive coordinator Willie Martinez = 0-infinity

Now,
I just hope next season ends with a bowl played anywhere other than Orlando, Tampa, or Atlanta. Add New Orleans to that list if the BCS championship is not there. My beef is not so much with the BCS as it is with the bowl tie ups with conferences. Win, lose or draw with Michigan State__enough with the Big Slow matchups! ENOUGH!

The only thing that troubles me
is the comment in the AJC article that Searels would be getting a raise along with the other assistants.
I hope this is Mark Richt trying to keep the assistants happy and I am sure they have incentives built into their contract for number of wins and the like. But regardless of where you stand on the “Fire Willie” issue…I think we can all agree that he does not need to be getting a raise. Honestly, I’d say the same for Jancek and Fabris as well.

I think the comment was actually in the ABH, not the AJC
My bad.

missionary?
So now that this is nailed down, what of this rumor about Richt leaving in the next few years to pursue missionary work?
